[Updated] Guild Wars 2 Charr plushies on sale now, but you can win one free from Massively!

Charrlie needs to be trained if he is to be prepared for Guild Wars 2. If I am lucky enough to adopt him, he will sit by my side as I continue my journey through GW history: battling the depths of Sorrow's Furnace in the Shiverpeaks, fighting off the abominations causing havoc in Cantha, delving into the darkness of the Domain of Anguish, and bringing down Duncan from his lair in Slaver's Exile. By watching my screen as I battle through GW's history, Charrlie will gain knowledge and courage to stand up to Zhaitan and his forces upon the release of GW2. Together, we can join forces against the Elder Dragons. And from the words of the Sunspears, "We shall never fight alone!"

(Offline, he can chill with me in the kitchen as I experiment new homemade recipes... the next one is cheesecake! Don't make him miss out on cheesecake!)

[Updated] Win a copy of DC Universe Online from Massively!

I would create my superhero that I did in beta: mental, two-handed weapon, acrobatics. Small body build with a huge hammer. I was able to easily focus my target while crowd control others who got in my way, being successful both solo and with a team with the same build. Having that adaptability really matches my playstyle.

Tell us what you think of Massively!

@TKOtheKDR I kinda miss the old website too. Personally for me, I don't like how I load up the screen and the first article title doesn't even fit in my browser window, and I have to scroll down every time to see the first headline. Things are too spaced out, and the articles feel less emphasized than the other site; however, I guess we have to live with it. The content is still just as awesome, at least! =)

Guild Wars is my favorite. Its the versatility where I can play how I want and do what I want when I want to without the restrictions of subscription fees or relying on others to be around to experience content I paid for. Its also very simple and straightforward to play, but very complex if you want it to be. And the story lines are well-written and thought out, where from the start to the end, there is a bigger story to it all.

I have to say the best part is the epic opening of being stranded and the voice-acted NPC interactions... sets a great mood for pict killing, haha, and a good starting tone for the rest of the game. No matter how many alts I make, I really like the beginning.

(I would say the old, old, first-year, old-school video of the guys on the horse on the bridge knocking people off the bridge, though jerkish, hilarious and the best part... but they fixed that pretty quickly, haha.)

UPDATED: Win a new Guild Wars costume pack from Massively!

Nov 19th 2010 4:46PM (Massively)
On the broader perspective, besides having new content (for free!), I really like how Guild Wars: Beyond is bringing life back into an already great game, as well as providing a healthy transition into the next chapters of Guild Wars 2. I admire how ANet is actually connecting the stories to really enhance the IP as a whole. Unlike most sequels, GW2 is complementing GW1 more than it is "replacing it", and has more of an effect of "change into a next chapter of GW1" instead of a "being a better GW1". It's really exciting to see many people pick up GW1 to get insight for GW2, and to have new content for those of us who never left and have something new for ourselves as we help others experience GW1.

Flameseeker Chronicles: Keeping an old game new

Feb 15th 2010 1:44AM (Massively)
You're right that some of the mission outposts aren't as full as when they first released, but there are still new people playing.

The Zaishen Quest (daily) system was also implemented to bring that "busy outpost" feel back for veteran players.

Also, there are guilds out there that cater to new people and "returning" players. I know with my guild, we make it a rule that we don't do spoilers, and we don't "run" people and do missions for them. We want the new people to experience the storyline like we did, so when we group with them, we let them lead and let them make the mistakes that we made when we were new. And with overpowered builds, things die too quickly and makes it less fun for the new guy who only gets two skills off before the mobs die, so we go with strong, but still balanced, teams to make sure they get a good experience.

I know we aren't the only guild like that either... there are some great communities out there for GW, you just have to find the one that matches your playstyle.

For you, I would continue playing for the storyline and meeting some people to help get you adjusted to GW. Plus, a lot of what happens in Guild Wars 2 will make better sense if you have a background in the most recent content you haven't explored yet. But if you aren't having fun, don't play it. The game is for enjoyment, not frustration.
