[Updated] On the second day of giveaways, BioWare gave to me...
Dec 14th 2011 3:28PM (Massively)There's always a plan, a grift to make it through another day in a turbulent galaxy, hell there may even be some time for a lil' R&R too!
38 Studios is looking for a few good men -- and women, too, of course!
Feb 16th 2011 6:01AM (Massively)Lord know's how they got that deal, I personally will be happy to apologise in the future but there's now way I can see this team producing much of anything.
When are they releasing their first game? ....mmm.
I honestly thing Rhode island has placed a bad bet and they wont get their 500 odd jobs for state residents.
The Daily Grind: Have you ever gone on a date in an MMO?
Feb 12th 2011 11:28AM (Massively)If you do, I have to say I fear for your ability to interact with real people in society.
The P-word: Earthrise first impressions
Feb 11th 2011 3:11PM (Massively)It's early days but if MH can keep producing the goods, i.e. server stability etc then it could be a runner.
My only real gripe is a personal one, I like sandboxes, I don't like the presumption this should equal = no information or guidance.
Hopefully it will come together in time.

Jan 29th 2011 10:48AM (Massively)The Soapbox: Sandboxes and the cop-out of FFA PvP
Jan 4th 2011 4:33PM (Massively)However, it's all dependant on the circumstances and enviroment which need to be put into context.
In MMO's I would like to see some thoughtful PvP design. If you want to be a murderer, fine go ahead, but expect to be hunted, exiled and see your actions have consequences.
I think that a cops and robbers ruleset would be a good idea, as would a grander PvE vs PvE meta-game.
PvE areas are protected (but not 100% safe) and PvP are FFA. Now add the layer of PvE can expand into PvP areas and make them safe by taking objectives or carrying out quests etc to clear out mobs etc.
This way the PvPer's can fall into 2 groups, 1. Cops/protectors, 2. griefers, killers robbers etc. Generally this is how PvP'ers tend to fall into anyway.
I'd also add the element that as a griefer, even logged off, your character can be tracked down and incarcerated/exiled. This then leads to cat and mouse games.
Just some random thoughts on adding some structure to the chaos of FFAPvP in MMO's.
Still haven't tried Vindictus? We have more keys for you!

Waging WAR: Finding the sandbox
Sep 4th 2010 4:16PM (Massively)Seriously, I'd fall into your definition of a cynical gamer. I too tend to like persistance and find the achievement / RvR cycle boring.
The first time you make something your a designer, the second time you're an engineer. The thrid time your a technician, it gets boring real fast. Same goes for playing.
All I would say is when burnout is about to grab you, either take a break or change you perspective. I once played a fool in stormwind's palace for a month just because I was bored out of my tree. In WAR however, thanks to the design I find rp'ing there harder.
I'd say go monster hunting, or fishing or make a travelling band and act out shakespear in atldorf. I once considered how long it take to walk backwards from one end of a map to another.
Or there's always the re-roll.
Good luck!
