Drink, dice, and debauch with new Wakfu gameplay videos
Mar 21st 2012 11:08PM (Massively)First thing that came to my mind too.
Then I watched the videos and I saw character art of them holding cards and a grid on which they play and all I can think is Collectible Card Game MMO.
Free for All: Free-to-play MMO versions of your favorite Nintendo games
Mar 15th 2012 3:15AM (Massively)I can see it being heavily bogged down by making everything an instance and obfuscating even the simplest of tasks like purchasing pokeballs or trading pokemon or playing with friends. To your points, Sorithal and DarkWalker, Nintendo doesn't have the resume I'd look for in a developer behind this genre of game.
It would have to be done by not-Nintendo. Unfortunately, that's not ever going to happen unless they sell of their rights to those IPs.

That aside, World of Warcraft's upcoming Pet Battle System (if it makes it to release) would seem to lack the depth that Pokemon has. Not to mention the pets currently in WoW are mostly uninteresting things - of course, that's an I.M.H.O. statement to be clear. To be more in line with Pokemon I'd think they would need to redo the look of many pets.
It could happen since they don't have details on this system, though.
@Patently Right
You're translation of Pokemon into the MMO space is far too literal. It shouldn't be a straightforward port with multiplayer support and three dimensional graphics, but far more than that to make it a fluid and dynamic game.
WildStar Wednesday: Shiny hover bikes
Mar 15th 2012 2:54AM (Massively)Seriously, I want it to be an enjoyable game because its got a lot of character so far.

Mar 14th 2012 8:18PM (Massively)A huge, open world with every pocket monster in it and the ability to battle other players would be fun.
Rise of Dragonian Era launches with special in-game events
Mar 13th 2012 11:51PM (Massively)Most definitely. All games could take a page out of Horizon's book when it comes to playable races and have things that are distinctly non-humanoid. There were a lot of great ideas buried in that game.

Mar 13th 2012 5:43PM (Massively)By this I mean the way abilities are handed out through the Legacy system. It just seems so much like breeding Pokemon to me.
Not a big fan of the race selection at the moment, so would I gain anything from rolling another Zabrak?
Guild Wars 2 pre-purchase details announced
Mar 13th 2012 5:06PM (Massively)I'm pretty much in the same boat.
I want the Collector's Edition for everything but the statue. Would have preferred Norn, Sylvari, or Human female statues but meh, out of my control.
So selling the statue on ebay would probably be my next bet unless they release the CE items seperately, then it'd just be a matter of buying the regular and the other non-statue items.
Scope out MechWarrior Online's high-octane action
Mar 13th 2012 4:24PM (Massively)Often times I've tried seeing a trailer without the soundtrack blaring to get a better idea of what gameplay will be like.
Having watched the above both with sound on and off, it still appears that the game will be fun... just not as exciting as with the rock music jiving me up. Still good though. /thumbs up
Been years since I've played a good Mechwarrior game.
