Wings Over Atreia: Easy button

Nov 22nd 2010 7:50PM (Massively)
They don't need to make the game "easier", they need to make it more fun. I've never heard anyone say that AION is to hard. But I have heard tons of people comment about how boring it is to level a character.

Even when rifting was at its peak it wasn't hard. It could get annoying dying all the time to capped out rifters picking on lowbies, but it wasn't hard.

There is nothing hard about grinding out a level in AION, the problem comes from the fact that for many, its just not fun to spend day after day grinding on the same level for little or no reward.

Anyone who has played this game knows that the repeatable quests are horribly boring. They can add all the repeatable quests they want, until they start becoming fun to do, they aren't really solving the core problem with AION.

Aion's Assault on Balaurea expansion coming to public test server

They should do something about the server imbalances first.

What they can do to fix them, I don't know. The damage is already done.

Choose my Adventure: The force is strong in this one

The best ways to level ATK (at the keyboard) are by doing the Legacy quest line, as well as 10 missions from the mission terminal each day.

One thing you will want to do is go to the Mos Eisley Cantina and get yourself Kinetic and Energy buffs, as well as the XP buff. These will keep you alive and also give you a boost to your XP gain for over 4 hours. As long as you don't die.

Also there are AFK medics in the starport that can give you medic buffs that last around a hour. While these are not needed to do Legacy, they do speed things up.

That being said, most vets do not level ATK anymore. AFK camping spawns is perfectly legal in SWG as long as your not camping a quest spawn. So people will camp these 24/7 while they level up, selling the loot to junk dealers as they go. Another trick is to sit in another players ship while they kill things. Though they may have fixed the space XP gain recently. Its been a while since ive done it myself.

The reasons why people do this, is because the Legacy quest line is absolutely horrible once you reach Naboo, and that people are bored of having to play the same content over and over after 7 years. It's not like SWG see's many new players. Most people who level a character now a days are people who don't want to pay SOE's inflated price for a server transfer ($50) and who are starting on a more populated server like Starsider. Really right now there are only about 4 servers with enough people on them.

Just prepare yourself for some boring quests on Naboo. Though its nothing like grinding a level 30+ in AION.

The quests get better once you pass Naboo. So don't get discouraged, just know that for a couple hours the quests won't be as enjoyable as they could be.

Massively Exclusive: Our tour of the Fallen Earth studio

Wow, what a bunch of buttheads tonight.

Perhaps there is so much coverage, because unlike other games this studio is actually doing something. Its not yet another WoW clone, and personally I'm enjoying watching this little studio and seeing what they can do. A lot of the bigger studio's aren't doing anything, they all seem to be in some sort of holding pattern. This is something new and fresh.

Im not a fan of the game, Ive tried it, didn't like it. But many of the people in my guild have gone over to it for its sandbox feel. This has a lot of potential like EvE, to fill a nitch market and unlike most MMO's to actually grow rather then shrink.

Right now I would say the two biggest things hurting SWG are the lag, and the dwindling population on many of the serves.

At this point there are only 4-5 servers worth playing on population wise (less if you ask the trolls on the official forums). And of the people on those servers many are transferring to Starsider.

The Daily Grind: What are you like in voice chat?

Mar 5th 2010 11:04AM (Massively)
Don't use it. Don't like it.

Ill listen in if I "have to" during a raid/instance but once its over im done with it. I would much rather listen to my own music or the games sounds then other players.

I used to use it on my X-Box but all the racism, hate and trash talk really ruined any benefit of using it.

NCsoft announces Aion magazine

So a game with next to no content thinks its going to have enough content to fill a magazine? How many pages of gold seller ads can they possibly have?

The Daily Grind: Still interested in console MMOs?

Would I want or play a consel MMO?

No I wouldn't.

I just don't see the appeal.

Star Wars Galaxies' Galactic War update jumps onto test server

Jan 7th 2010 6:00PM (Massively)
I wouldn't call shutting down half the servers "doing very well". As it is, of the remaining servers only 3-4 have any population worth talking about, most servers can't find decent PvP or fill a 8 person instance group during prime time. And on the big servers the lag is so bad from outdated hardware and shotty code that PvP with anything more then 20 people is a slideshow (sever side lag)

The professions are bland and boring. The only people still playing are hardcore SW fans and people who love the sandbox elements that remain.

That being said, for people who like player housing, in depth crafting and a open world feeling, SWG is still the best game out there, but the PvE, PvP and professions are totally inferior to preNGE days.

The Digital Continuum: SWTOR's content conundrums, page 2

My "guess" is that TOR will launch without a space aspect to the gameplay.

SWG did the same thing, and released space later. I hope I'm wrong.

I think space is a major aspect of the Star Wars universe, and if TOR doesn't have it at launch, that could be a big deal to many.
