Does Massively have a deal cut out with GamersFirst or something? The game is beyond saving and there's article after article about it.
There are significantly less players than there were at the beginning of "beta", with fewer districts. Why? Hackers and absolutely unnecessary changes to the game.
I logged in when I first saw a post about fixed lag, ran up a stairwell and warped back down it...
As for your stance on hacking, kudos. But actions speak louder than words and considering all you're working on is a method for reporting a player, then having players VOTE on whether that player should be banned? Seems a very exploitable system to me.
Also, how is this going to stop hacking? Shouldn't you be trying to figure out what loopholes these hacks are using instead of investing time in the people using them? Stopping something at the root is more effective than the leaf. As said before, hackers will come back on new accounts, this solves nothing.
I played APB:Reloaded with around 10-15 people on a consistent basis, we set up organized groups and went out looking to build threat and such. If I was GamersFirst, I'd be worried about what direction they want the game to go in.
Every patch has been horrible.
Starting off with lowering the District player cap in an attempt to keep lag to a minimal, yet lag was as bad as before if not worse. Slammed with F2P players feeling as though they weren't getting anything for their missions, even when winning players would receive less than they spent on ammo or car damage. Supposedly fixing missions to be more fair, yet the exact missions that were pointed out were still in every single mission.
Yes, it was cool that you'd get into huge fights involving multiple groups. But once again, you were bound to get no income unless you were subscribed (which isn't an issue but F2P players still need a bone). While I agree it was fun, the missions needed to be redesigned to fit that number of people. VIP missions and capture missions are impossible to finish if the other team, of 15 players, gets to the point first. Regardless of skill, the respawn locations were too close and the players too many. Unnecessary balance changes to grenades and even steering for cars? Really?
Worse of all, hackers still run free. I would have gladly subscribed even after all of those horrible changes I noted on, the game was immensely fun when playing with friends; but hackers made the game excruciating to play. When you play against people with ESP, aimbot, and items in the game you can't even get by paying for...that's a bit extreme.
None of the people I used to play with in APB are playing now. I don't think any of them will give it a chance again because of how the game was changed. Sorry to say it but GamersFirst turned into Moneysfirst real fast.
What isn't fun is solely reward-based gaming where everyone feels like they are entitled to loot after they achieve x accomplishment. Full-loot PvP only works if:
1. Gear matters little to none. 2. People are willing to PvP for the hell of it. 3. People want to PvP, for the hell of it. 4. People are willing to take risks.
Seeing as none of these requirements are fulfilled by the majority of players/developers--they aren't in. Sorry but PvP would be a lot better off without the mindset of PvE gear-progression.
