Vindictus European open beta begins tomorrow

Sep 27th 2011 1:11PM (Massively)
@Fabius Bile I usually try to keep my negative thoughts to myself but I agree completely with you about Vindictus. For all the action it's one of the most boring games I have ever played.

@Wensbane Do you or anyone know why? I mean what business doesn't want money? It has to be legal or somthing, I can't imagine they don't want to be in that market.

The Daily Grind: Which character death did you find the most memorable?

Playing EQ1 on the SZ "No Rules" server, it was a Good vs Nuetral vs Evil 3 way that actually turned out to be more of an Evil faction PVE fest since everyone rolled evil.
Anyway I was the Good teams (lowest pop team) main cleric for a long time. Well many long stories short one night I was just over it, done. I bound myself right outside the bazzar where I could be attacked and went afk overnight after advertising free kills.
When I came back to see the carnage I went from max level to where you couldn't loose xp anymore and had bodies completely blanketing Shadowhaven.
They must have had fun knocking me around I had corpses in rooms halfway across the zone. It was quite awesome!

Wasteland Diaries: Coming soon

When I heard about the top tier subscription aura, buff, thingy, I was worried. But if the aura isn't combat related or anything close, I feel a bit better. They have to do the cash shop right not to ruin this game though and I just don't see it..

I have always hoped they would add more sandbox elements. Player housing/towns would be amazing.
And the multi-player vehicles is the other thing I have dreamed for. A Mad Max RV may be in the cards after all!

WRUP: Remember when Nintendo sold consoles that just played neat games edition

I think the WiiU Chase game looked fun and was a neat idea.

The Daily Grind: Do you need breaks from MMOs?

May 31st 2011 9:19AM (Massively)
MMO's are actually filler between games for me. Been a lot of good games lately but might have to re-sub to something after The Witcher 2.. it's a long time till Deus Ex3 and Skyrim.

Fallout Online's future in jeopardy as Interplay's finances suffer

@Kitanishi
This may come as a shock but not everyone will agree with you. I played both of the originals (as they came out) and I love the Bethesda games.
And for the people defending Bethesda most of what I read in this thread so far had little to do with the games and more to do with how wrong Interplay is in reguard to the lawsuit.
A massively reader responded to a post of mine about this a while back and really put it into perspective.

It's not hip. FO3, and to a lesser extent FONV, were far better than the previous titles ever were.

Interplay is currently controlled by Herve Caen. Caen refused to pay Interplay employees after his company purchased Interplay. It wasn't until a California court ordered Caen to pay his employees' salaries that he finally caved.

On top of that the agreement between Bethesda and Interplay stipulated that Interplay had to begin production of an MMO in *2007*. Is anyone actually stupid enough to think Interplay has three years of production behind FOOL? Hell, it was only just a few months that Interplay announced they would be using MastHead Studios' Earthrise engine.

And then there's that. Interplay is using MHS' Earthrise engine? Really?

It's all a ploy by Interplay to just get their grubby hands deeper into Bethesda's pockets and force them to pay for the IP they legally bought and purchased a second time.

Honestly, I hope Interplay dies in a fire. Rubbish company led by absolute d-bags and when was the last time they released *anything*? Exactly. The answer to that tells you everything you need to know.

The Soapbox: Debunking the first kiss theory

May 24th 2011 4:10PM (Massively)
The first kiss theory is hogwash. People may not agree with the examples given here but that doesn't make it untrue.
I hated my first MMO, loved my second. Then after a couple hits and misses found my favorite much later.
I admit there is somthing special about a first experience but that doesn't mean everyone uses it as a benchmark.

Enter at Your Own Rift: Creature comforts

It's like people think MMORPG's should become somthing completely different, but then they wouldn't be MMORPG's anymore.

I think part of the issue is some people don't understand genre. Some talk about clone this, and clone that, but when they finally say somthing about how they would like things to change it's apparent they want the MMO but not the RPG.

Thats fine people are looking for different MMO types and the good news is other genre's are comming to the MMO landscape (heck some have been around for years). But calling for a genre to change itself is silly and I don't know why people even waste time doing it.
