Net neutrality moving forward behind closed doors?

Acelin give me an example of when an ISP has personally wronged you. I have mentioned that there were some instances with a breach in net neutrality, but these were quickly resolved and do not merit the government stepping in. We already do have de-facto net neutrality in this country, so spare me the quick two-step about how you want net neutrality but don't want the FCC to enforce it, its breathtakingly stupid.

Am I paranoid? That is somewhat of a loaded term. When we have a system in place that works just fine and the FCC is trying everything in its power (as well as some things that are out of its jurisdiction, as we both have pointed out) to change that, I certainly see cause for concern. I don't think we will end up like China, if that is what you are implying, but given the FCC's record the poor misinformed people who want the FCC to enforce net neutrality will come to regret it. We have already seen them use punitive measures against American Dad and Janet Jackson under the guise of "protecting the children" , or something. Lets not give them regulatory power over the internet.

Ugh, this infuriates me. Can't you people tell that when the FCC pushes these secret negotiations to try and get through Net Neutrality at all costs (Even though the courts ruled that they didn't have the authority) that they don't have your best interest at heart? Private Corporations have had control of the whole net neutrality issue for a while and while there have been some hiccups, everything was pretty much peachy. Why get the government involved in this?

Dude, the FCC has already argued the case. THEY LOST! Doesn't the fact that they are so hell bent on controlling the internet scare you just a little bit? These are the people who fined American Dad, Janet Jackson on the "wardrobe malfunction" as well as other things. Free Speech isn't one of the FCC's highest priorities.

I played the trial, I bought the game on Steam, and I played for ~28 days before canceling my sub. Why did I cancel? I don't support their business model. Capitalism - as we Americans know it - is inherently unethical.

Congratulations, you are choosing who to support and who deserves your business. You are a fine capitalist!

Anti-Aliased Special Edition: Net neutrality, the FCC, Comcast, and Glenn Beck pt. 2

Stock market crashing was the first step, Gov intervention turned it into a depression. If Gov intervention helped how come we didn't get out until after WW2, there was a ton of intervention in the FDR's new deal. We already saw deregulation bringing us out of depressions, yet we didn't learn and screwed things up.

The comment on the blog you linked pretty much neuters what the blogger said, so I don't need to respond to it when he did it so effectively

Jslim, good point. Its so scary that people might hear the drum beating and not think about what you said. However after some analysis people would realize that it wasn't the stock market crashing that put us in the great depression. It was primarily the smoot-hawley tariff that was basically gov regulating trying to increase domestic firms market share. This contributed greatly to the severity, and FDR's new deal debacle ensured we weren't on a road to recovery soon. Buddy, learn some history before posting

Thanks
