The Daily Grind: Should inventory space be infinitely expandable?

@Sephirah

What are you, like an 80th level troll or some such? I never played any of the games you mentioned, and I'll leave all the forum posting and whining up to you, as you clearly have some affinity for it.

Believe it or not, there are people out there that don't NEED, or WANT everything handed to them. Try it, you might actually find that you like having a pair.

Sack up, kid. You'll respect yourself in the morning after you do. Some people can handle, and /gasp, even appreciate, a challenge.

Games should just let players decide how much xp they have, or what level they are, or hey, even what gear they have in their infinitely expandable inventory!

Where does it end?

It's not that you're insane, and you're correct, the pilot was an idiot of monumental proportions.

The cargo PLEX isn't going anywhere, and I can see those that start whining about it being told to watch this http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VgvM7av1o1Q and htfu.

AO was my FIRST MMO! Some of my first and most vivid digital memories ever come from this game.

I'd love to go back to it, and get back to playing my Nano-Technician "Nanec" lol. As soon as they get it done, I'll be going back.

Grind? There is no grind. Just play.

APB to overhaul driving and combat

Jul 14th 2010 9:36AM (Massively)
UltimateQ, thanks for linking the forum post this article is referencing. Can't fathom why referencing the information that you're posting about wouldn't have been a good idea to begin with.

Now as to APB - I admittedly didn't do much research on the game before buying it, as I was sold on the concept. Had I known about all that was"wrong" with this game, I wouldn't have bought it. With that having been said, I'm glad I didn't research it, because it's still a HUGE amount of fun! Probably the best PVP fun I've had in an MMO (if you can term this game such) since SWG, and the car chases are just hilarious.

There IS no better customization to be found in any game, any where. Period. I have seen a near perfect representation of tv show characters, he looks exactly like the guy, it's crazy. That and the amount of detail that can be put into the other decals and clothing is astounding.

Still though, ALL the crap they say about the game is true.

The cheating. The sloppy *expletive deleted* OVER THE SHOULDER console combat mechanics in which battles degenerate into dancing in a circle around your enemy until whomever has the better spray and pray wins. It would have been nice to have some solid, up to date, current PC combat mechanics in a game that is uhh, being marketed as a combat shooter. I've seen, and had grenades land at my feet and not kill me.

At. My. Feet.

Just crazy. The weapons need work, and balance, so as to import more of a role in their deployment. The cars need tightening up, but I play with guys regularly that can drive like nobody's business, so I'm not so much complaining about that. I just suck at it, lol.

Of course there needs to be more things to do in the game world, it's always like that.

With some good teammates you can have some really good fights, unless, of course, you have the unfortunate happenstance to be going up against a team of dudes with triple tier upgrades, then you're just going to lose. A game like this should be based on skill, and not gear, which is another thing that I dislike about the current state of pvp gaming, but I digress.

The decision to ignore beta testers and ship the game in this condition is telling. It just points to the fact that companies KNOW people are going to buy broken flawed games. Releasing unfinished, or should I say unpolished games (MMO's don't per se get "finished") is a part of the business mechanic and is standard fare. The days when people bought complete finished and or polished games off the shelf are long gone.

It's just unfortunate, because though I enjoy APB, I do not trust or get the warm fuzzies from RTW. They are not a company that places an emphasis on their game over their revenue, and it's not like they don't already have enough money as it is, c'mon. Sheesh.

Nice, those are all blogs that I usually frequent daily.

Seems we are of like mind in that regard - as I also contend that smaller personal blogs tend to have more journalistic merit and substance.

@Archmage

a. What's wrong with them sharing the poll info to the game company buddies?

b. If one wanted objective game reviews, where on the net would one go?
