"Either Totem of Wrath needs to be a scalar buff that is equalized against spell power differences between shaman and warlocks, or Demonic Pact needs to be changed to be a flat gain in spell power instead. "
It made me wonder, because I thought They were getting rid of "spell power" completely, in Cataclysm. Does this refer to something else? Thanks in advance.
The community manager of the European forums, "Kerensky", has already stated that it isn't replacing the current skill system, but it isn't just more skills either. It's a new way of handling the further addition of skills. He has said, to paraphrase, that if the current system stayed the way it is now, it would become too bloated, by simply adding more skills.
@THAC0 I've always pronounced it using the English I know (Der-is-it). The spelling of his name uses a ' as in Drizz't which separates the pronunciation between "Drizz" and "t".
But I could be way off and totally wrong. I usually end up contenting myself to any pronunciation I choose, regardless of what story or name. It's too much trouble to always try to figure out the proper way. For me anyway.
Wikipedia says it's Drizzt Do'Urden(which would make it Der-ist Do-er-den), but I seem to remember it being spelled Drizz't, so I dunno.
It's always fun to speculate on these announcements:)
I've been hoping for a long time now, that they will start making player figures, similar to WoW's figureprints.
I know that a company they had(still are?) working with, Merch4games, sells official merchandise like T-shirts, posters, and mugs. Merch4games is also usually seen near the RoM booth and different live events. There's no proof of any connection, but merch4games also advertises their 3D sculpting technology on there own website.
I would love to see this. With how versatile RoM is in letting players choose any and all armor and weapon pieces they want, with whatever stats they want, and letting you color multiple segments on individual pieces, it would make for great, unique figures.
Whatever it turns out to be, the announcement has me curious.
This is how I've felt for a long time. I was surprised to not get much interest when I shared it with my guild mates. Perhaps I didn't accurately describe my ideas, but most just said, live events would have to cater to everyone. They felt that it sounds like it would work in theory, but that the majority probably wouldn't care, unless it was strictly done in a roleplaying server.
I don't know. I think it'd work and would love to see this done. Maybe we'll see something akin to this in Heroes of Telara.
I'm sure developers have considered it, but it probably just doesn't fit into the reward being worth the time and energy it would take to implement.
I haven't played the game, but as far as magazines based on games. I think it's a wonderful idea. Magazines exist for everything. You can find magazines devoted to single pieces of fruit, single dads, specific kinds of boats, and on and on...
Some games are bigger than others, as far as content, but they are all these fun living, breathing communities. I think there's many ways to choose from too, when approaching a magazine based off a particular MMORPG. Player created stories; tons of statistical information for monsters, NPCs, players, and items; gossip columns ripe with guild falling-outs, ganking, personal and achievement based rankings, and who knows what else.
I love this kind of offline community. Pulling resources from many fansites, forums, and in-game content I think could not only fill up a lot of issues, but I could see it easily making the creation of brand new community content enjoyable and worthwhile. I think there's a viable market for almost any major MMORPG to have it's own monthly or bi-monthly magazine.
On the contrary. Magazines are doing fine. I've worked at a bookstore for over 5 years, and there's never been any news or decline in the numbers we sold.
There's actually a magazine for just about anything you could think of. I think, for the most part, people enjoy recreational reading.
Besides, how would people survive long waits in doctor offices, without magazines? They are an important part of our social and economic ecosystem:)
I think I'm going to switch professions. I like jewelcrafting, and Draenai have that nice bonus for it, but... I'm looking more at playing the market these days, and I think some other profession will be nice for that.

Gold Capped: Selling with Auctioneer's Appraiser
