Win a pony from WoW.com

Apr 16th 2010 3:05PM (WoW)
Subscription MMO's seem to be getting closer and closer to crossing the line of offering stuff for money that effects the game. I guess it's the same thing as always: as consumers we need to decide if this is acceptable or grounds for canceling a subscription.

I do like this because it's an example of a good company making a good product and cashing in on it. If the rest of the industry wants results like this they should raise their game.

Aion grips top ten digital sales charts a month past release

Nov 9th 2009 8:57AM (Massively)
In a vacuum the game is worthy of some praise, but NCsoft West is a train wreck. Seeing ads for powerleveling services and Kinah sales plastered all over the official Facebook and Twitter pages was especially funny considering the fact that NCsoft West was forced to use those sites as the official forum was broken and NCsoft employees could not post there.

I can handle Lineage 2 being botted up to the gills, but there's no excuse for the spam and bot trains invading Aion while NCsoft West feigns ignorance for two weeks, bans legit players as a show of force, then unbans the poor souls who were caught up in the "LOL, we're doing something. See?"

NCsoft makes gorgeous games with meaningful PVP...and then they leave them to the wolves because they are unwilling to put resources towards policing them.

Aion 24/7 GM support 'coming very soon'

Oct 15th 2009 12:54AM (Massively)
I simply can't believe how many people had no idea what they were getting into. This is NCsoft West we're talking about. The last event they introduced to L2 was so show-stoppingly bug filled that the event items could be used as AoE grenades that kicked other players offline. Their reaction? They ADVERTISED the bug and how to trigger it then claimed to have GM's watching for people who were making use of it(basically every one that enjoyed a good laugh).

MMO players through the word "incompetence" around too lightly but NCsoft's ability to not test anything, ignore botters, fuck up their own forums puts them head and shoulders above anyone else in the industry. At times I'm simply in awe.

Check their Facebook page for deals on power-leveling services in Aion:

The ad has been there for weeks...

Aion patches, denies whispers

As weird as it sounds, I don't blame NCsoft anymore. After years of playing L2 I know that NCsoft GM's have NEVER been willing to ban botters or implement a chat spam solution to the point where it has made a noticeable difference. They make great PVP games, but they do not police them. They never have and history dictates that they never will.

The people who expect Blizzard, Mythic, or even Funcom levels of policing, customer service, and patch development must have done zero research before plunking down their money for Aion.

The game will be fun. NCsoft will not ban botters. Check the L2 boards or spend five years finding out for yourself.

The Land of the Dead is open for business

Can anyone comment on the state of RvR on the NA servers? I enjoyed my time in Warhammer Online, but the World PVP seemed fun, but rather pointless after a while.

Eeegads, I liked the scenarios. I know people got bored of them but scenario-craft was basically the game I was looking for.

Western launch dates for Aion revealed

Some of the team from L2-NA has reportedly set up shop to support Aion. Fair warning to those thinking about taking the plunge into yet another NCsoft title:
http://boards.lineage2.com/showthread.php?t=203020

Ten pages of why NCsoft should stop exporting games to the NA/EU markets unless they feel like actually supporting them. Don't get me wrong, they make fantastic games that are visually stunning and I am stll have fun playing Lineage 2...when I can find a location that isn't overrun with automated farming groups.

Richard Garriott blasts NCsoft with $24 million lawsuit

May 6th 2009 2:42PM (Massively)
The thread regarding this topic was locked and everything but the original post was deleted on the L2 forum. Since it was a private message I'm not going to post it, but the answer I got was that every NCsoft board is seeing the same moderation of this topic.

Now if we only had a "web" of other servers, forums, and websites to discuss this...
