Jumping out an airlock is a legitimate mode of travel in Line of Defense

those planets don't even look like spheres. they look like textures downloaded from internet by searching them with google image and then filtered with photoshop (texture and emboss).
i can do the same in 12 minutes tops.

ArenaNet expands on microtransactions in Guild Wars 2

Plain out stupid move.
In DDO you can play for free, but come on... you need 10x as many hours to progress. If you spend 15$/mo it's by far faster and more enjoyable. So what I read here:

"...they use their free time or their disposable income to do it."

means exactly this: if you don't take advantage of the MT you're going to be a sitting duck and progress as slow as it can get. So it's up to you how much you can take.

I'm outta here. Really wanted GW2 to be the next gem, but I'd rather pay a subscription, which REALLY levels the ground instead of this s***.

And anybody can down vote me or criticize. The truth is this is Pay-to-Progress-Faster (P2PF), very much related to Pay-to-Win.

The Daily Grind: Do social media tie-ins annoy you?

Mar 17th 2012 8:44AM (Massively)
when I've seen this I immediately felt resented because I won't have an FB page for ANY reason. I don't even want to see the video on YT anymore and I won't preorder.

NOW I want to know it all before I decide if GW2 is good enough for my wallet:
1) is there a shop and how will it word EXACTLY (that's post-launch because I don't trust any dev anymore since Funcom's gig with AoC);
2) will it require FB or will there be any advantage in having FB?

The idea of having to rely on social sites to gain access or advantages is something I will not accept, because it's a marketing move. They'll have to PAY ME if they want to know ANYTHING about my friends or playing habits. That's why I don't do surveys either.

Kickstarting the future of game publishing: An interview with Brian Fargo

LOL Shawn's intro is almost as if it was written by me, word for word :D When I connected to the internetz (1998) one of my first sites was a fanboy site about Wasteland, I even had an original and unique interview with Alan Pavlish. Damn I can't find it anymore :(

That guy had this dream to make a sequel, too.

Next, I helped coding a MUD based on Wasteland but it never got far. I'll definitely follow this closely 'cause I still love it!

Win Lottery > Design MMO > ??? > Profit!

For some backer he says "all stats increased by 5", "mount increases speed by 30%" or "30 slot bag"....

REALLY?
He starts with these things? It's not even clear if there is a bag, mount or stats, he just jumps in without a clue about how games are designed. This is going to be hilarious.

Not to mention the orthographic errors, which are not typos because they are repeated. I think even 27 mil $ won't get him far, you can't buy your own expertise, knowledge or intelligence. He may just hire a staff but this will turn out similar to 38 studios... So it's just money thrown into the market, not a new *NOTEWORTHY MIND* devoting itself to developing a new MMO.

GDC 2012: Forty minutes with Derek Smart and Line of Defense

@Space Cobra It's not a matter of death or time, it's just a matter of art. How can anyone claim that a failed game is a piece of art? In 100 years the "pieces of art" will be those that proved to be a success. And with failure/success I don't mean in the eonomical sense, but in the way of user acceptance and influence on following games. How much acceptance did those games have? How much did they influence the other games following it? If those two questions are negative, then it's right now clear that they are not even CANDIDATES to becomming pieces of art. If, on the other hand, the answer to those two questions is "very much", then we have a CANDIDATE, but still not a piece of art. At that point, you'll have to wait some 50-100 years to tell the real ART apart from the rest.
