Notch's new game is '0x10c'

@Vic Fontaine I had a fun childhood. :)

EA is The Consumerist's 'Worst Company in America,' wins Golden Poo

Why would weapons manufactures be on a list of worst companies? Most firearms companies have great warranties on their products and will work with you to fix any issues. They also listen to their consumer base on bringing new changes to existing products and ideas for future products.

EA does none of that.

@bustermachine42069 I think those ideas were "removed" (in quotes because they could come back) because people were getting something out of Minecraft that Notch wasn't originally expecting. It's the building and exploration that they really wanted, along with all the freedom. Quests would remove some of that freedom. And, uh, dragons and scary.

I didn't go to Minecon so I'll take your word for it. But kids have an amazing way of picking up stuff quickly, so I'm sure they'll learn how what they need to to play the game. And, depending on the level of emulation and depth of the computer this could be an amazing way to get kids more interested in the hardware/programming side of computers. I wish someone had told me about programming (and given me a starting point) when I was playing Doom at 5 and wanting the enemies to be smarter.

@Chronomaster saps all the wattage from your ship right after it sends out a distress beacon which gets sent out to the virus programmer (who then comes and scraps your ship). Or, since Firefly is an influence, a virus that diverts all wattage to the engines, sets an auto-pilot course for a scrapping station, and locks you out of everything.

I've never felt such a huge level of fear accompanied by excitement about playing a video game before.

@Derp Sandwich I'm hopeful that Notch won't throw out a 15 dollar a month fee. He doesn't need to make millions, he just needs to cover the server costs and such (since the sale of the game should cover development). If it was a few dollars a month or 20-30 a year I'd be very willing to play it (provided it's a good game of course).

@(Unverified) They hooked me with the demo, and I've waited to have a computer that can actually play it (rather than present a slide show) for far too long. It's the only RTS game that's really interested me since the early Command and Conquer days.

@RogueJedi86 The name makes me think of both memory address in computers, scientific notation for numbers, and hexadecimal numbers (because of the super script 'c'). From Notch's tweets it sounds like there is a way to say the name, so hopefully that's easier to say. because I love the way the name looks, but as is I'd just refer to it as "that awesome new space game by Notch." Or maybe SpaceCraft.

Yes, I'm not the only one who's first reaction was finger prints.
Chrome also wears off from wear and looks like shit.

(Don't) Give me that old time RPG combat

@(Unverified) I think enough money has been made that there can be a menu option to allow you to play with turned based combat or simply turn based menu combat. I love the hell out of both, so as long as I don't get real time strategy I'll be pretty damn happy.

@Draugdraugr Yeah, tactics (when you turn it to turn based combat) is a simply perfect Fallout engine. You get to move characters around tactically allowing you to approach each battle in many different ways. The story is pretty boring, but tactics is worth picking up for the engine alone. I think Wasteland 2 using that style of combat would be the best, but I'll be pretty freakin' happy with whatever they end up giving us for Wasteland 2. Since I know they're going to dish out a good game.
