That was one of the last things we did on the project. We had taken a break from filming stuff, then came back to it way later and Fjo had the idea to do that part. We spent a good part of an evening on it. Looking at that, then some of the other stuff we did, I wish we had enough time to go back and re-do some of the other ideas since we had learned a lot about what we were doing as we did it. Recording in-game shots was a first for me, so there were plenty of mistakes on my end. I thought Fjo did a great job of editing some of the less stellar shots into some pretty good sections regardless.
The falling portion was by far the most fun to film. Seeing how well it turned out (the best part of in-game shots imo) was fantastic when he finished editing it.
Awesome! I'm the guy who filmed a bunch of it in-game for fjo (Zerzhul/Zereaver). I'll have to make sure he knows this is being featured. It was so much fun doing this with him. Been playing together since 2005.
Well I wasn't sold on the MMO concept when Galaxies came out, and being a huge fan of the SW universe (to the point of owning every novel and probably being able to recite the entire 6000+ year SW timeline if given enough hours in a day) it's probably good that I missed it considering everyone I know who played it said it was a travesty.
I'm therefore cautiously getting my hopes up for SW:TOR. I'm 100% sure I will buy it, but its quality will determine how much I play it. There's a long list of things I would do to get into a TOR beta, whereas I've never even heard of most of the other ones.
A Fallout MMO would be fun, for sure, but I'm not sure how immersed I could get into that world. I suppose I'd just have to try it and see (and I *would* try it). Star Trek is kinda meh for me. There's not a whole lot of "epic" to Star Trek in my opinion but it could probably be good.
Although the in-game graphics are certainly not up to par with other games, I prefer the concept-art and artist renderings of the WoW universe above all others that I have explored.
I think it would be a thoroughly fun distraction from more serious raid and grind oriented MMO games. The mini-games look fun and the cartoony feel is a welcome distraction.
The only real gamebreaking behavior where this is concerned will be among those people that *already* game the system.
More on-topic If the encounters are still tuned for traditional groups, there is nothing stopping a great DPS class from getting into a group. If a ret paladin that happens to be able to spec holy or prot during the raid has better DPS than a hunter, that's not a caveat of dual-speccing. If this is the case, the paladin would get chosen over the hunter *anyhow* unless they were looking for ranged DPS. If the slot is open for DPS and the hunter can do more DPS than this paladin, why take the paladin? If you need DPS, having an available extra healer means very little.
For the amount I play video games in a month, WoW itself is well worth the $15 to me. It's the equivalent of buying one used xbox360 game every 3 months (~$45 for decent titles) and has way more content and replay value than a console game. WoW is the only MMO that I've played, so I can't comment on whether $15/month is worth it for *every* MMO, but I feel like I get my money's worth in WoW.
