MMO Family: Do kids belong in guilds?

Apr 4th 2012 6:29PM (Massively)
In my experiences. The ratio isn't good for those under a certain age. Those that I've met under that age have caused problems for Guilds I've been in. Very immature. Ungrateful and irresponsible. I know it's a game. But if you take the fact that 24 other people are relying on you to be there on time, then you don't deserve to be in a guild.

Even my brother was a pain when he was younger. He would argue with our GL at the time. So much so, that despite the fact my brother had essentially run and put together the only raid group in the guild at the launch of Wrath, the GL still plotted to create a new guild and exclude him.

Just take normal human nature, then make it worse, that's how most people act when they're younger. Looking back, I can think of things I did in game that were immature.

My favorite guild consisted of people largely married and older then me. Vent atmosphere was always friendly and no one tried to be a loud mouth over talking idiot like so many others.

The Scarlett Johansson was the closest one. The Megan Fox didn't look trashy enough. ;o

I'm no longer a fan of Blizzard. Their actions lead me to believe they are no longer the artists they once claimed to be. That is not to say they can't make good games anymore. But that their decisions are governed by profit instead of the desire to deliver a polished game.

However, while it won't be the nostalgia of diablo days of yore, it'll hopefully still be a solid game. I know some people that want to get it. So I'll get it for the sake of playing with them. But I also prefer Diablo's art style to what I've seen of PoE.

Why I Play: EVE Online

I actually found the game enjoyable despite not knowing much, just barely skimming the surface of the game. But when I think of captaining my own ship. I certainly don't think of drop down menus! If it weren't for that, I'd be more inclined to play.

It'd be ironic if future space Captains IRL have to use drop down menus xD

Damn them. They tempt me to resub. Only reason I left is because my build disbanded into 6 different guilds. D:

The Daily Grind: Who was your MMO mentor -- and whom did you mentor?

Mar 21st 2012 2:38PM (Massively)
My younger brother is the closest thing I had to a mentor. He showed me how to gear up my pally to heal and a few pointers on Healing. But after that, it was all me, I learned how to get the most DPS out of my Ret pally back in BC. When we were ridiculed for playing that spec. I farmed dark runes to get more mana so I could drop more consecrates, which were the only way to get a good DPS boost. I became one of the few people to remain standing during shade of Aarron(?). When we rolled into ZA, it was always me and this one Warrior dueling for top spot

Why don't they just go free to play? Or just sell it to a company that actually cares!

I don't really see anything that is interesting. Just more of the same but with tweaks. They just don't get it. People are tired of the same thing. And the same thing at the slow rate they patch things. I don't wanna sit around for a month after completing all of their content. They make so much money, they can afford to higher enough staff to release enough content to keep even a slacker like me satisfied.

Been paying for a premium. Instead of reactivating my WoW or SWTOR accounts. Premium ammo is impractical. My brother buys some rounds for when he does Clan wars. And even then, he only uses that on occasion.

The problem for this game is that it can't go the cosmetic route. They did put in camo, but that only goes so far. It's not like LoL with cute or cool skins. Even so, I manage to have fun with just a premium account, sometimes without.

Win Lottery > Design MMO > ??? > Profit!

The scope of what he's talking about seems to big. 27 million wouldn't be enough without cutting corners in other aspects of the game. But more power to him if he wants to do it.

I personally would have tried to make something smaller, but with a focus on unique mechanics, then if it did well enough. I could get interest in a game with a wider scope. That would eventually become a full fledged MMO.
