The Daily Grind: Are you buying Final Fantasy XIV?

Sep 22nd 2010 1:05PM (Massively)
You make money by doing crafting leves, which you can have up to 8 at a time. You can also have 8 combat leves as well if you decide to switch to a combat class.

Anyways I picked up my copy today at the local store, waiting for the cpu and psu to arrive later today.

And know you actually have an option to play it even if it takes forever to reach the level cap. You didnt have that before...so why are you complaining?

Thats the jist of the people that put the hate on the turbine model, you give people a hand and they want the whole arm. On the other side you have people that think they are pureblooded royalty just because they pay a sub and they dare not mingle with common filthy peasant f2pers

MMO tops Japan's sales charts on the Xbox 360

Im pretty sure this isn't an MMO at all, this is basically like any other MH game but with a large central hub instead of the small personal hubs from the other titles in the series. The game still is just 4 people going after the baddies at a time.

A full rework of your class mechanics that essentially gives you free int or will depending on your stance isnt enough? 1.3.5 changed a very large portion of the end game and its now faster and more streamlined so I dont know what other RvR change they could do specially for 1.3.6 which everyone knows has been a class tweak patch

I was one of the mythic haters a few months ago, but they've shown far more competence now than they did a year ago even when their staff has been cut so much.

Why are people complaining about level 1 combat again? Heroic strike, sinister strike, smite, shadow bolt, ice bolt, wrath, auto shot and auto attack. Thats all you had in WoW at level 1 to do combat.

FFXIV combat still looks slow though but seeing the direction that SE is taking with the game, in terms of weapons and now the reveal that mobs and bosses will have breakable parts to increase drop rate on loot ( as in actually positioning yourself to break those parts) , It looks like they want to make this into an MMO version of Monster Hunter while still retaining some of FFs flavor. I hope they succeed since FF and MH are my favorite Japanese series

The benchmark tool is flawed then since I have 4GB of Ram, 2.8Ghz Athlon II OCed to 3.2ghz, and a 4890 slightly OCed and it still got me 2k

This has to do with the whole action gage setup, you either attack normally and use a little bit of your bar or wait till it regenerates and launch stronger ones. The combat was completely overhauled from the last alpha stage so expect it to change even more as time goes on

I think anything above a 1600 would be enough for the eye, also people shouldn't freak out if their machine starts to blow up when you are running it in high. You would be running a console game at 1080p when it normally runs at 720p.

Dont expect your older cards to run current gent games at 1080p without blowing chunks everywhere.

If you talk about monthly revenue then yes, WoW is probably the most profitable MMO. Combining thin gs like 7m+ (not sure if they allowed the game back in china) subscribers plus the millions more they get on their vanity pet, mount and premium services such as transfers and you have a recipe for an almost endless supply of revenue. If you talk about sheer user base, then I'd think maple story has it beat down.

Blizzard knows they cant go f2p cause they would actually lose money on it, they make plenty of money off expansions + monthly fees to just switch to a content base system.

Yo Jef, maybe you should update this article to reflect how a cash shop didn't hinder you from playing and enjoying AoC, or maybe it was the ignorance of not knowing it existed that made you enjoy the game.

Now that you know the game has some sort of cash shop, does it invalidate the fun you had with the game? Will you continue to play the game or move to a game that just doesn't have any form of paid transactions going on for it except for the subscription?
