I recieved the beta invitation for last weekened and tried it out...
Well, what can I say the game is engaging, but it being beta and not the end product I dont want to detract and or attempt to say one way or another. But for simplicity sake, it's an OK game, but I have lived through AoC, WoW and to me..as much as I hate saying it..Just feels like a WoW clone..Mind you it looks gorgeous..but damn it...
SWG ruined it for me with it's sandbox (pre-nge) so for me I cannot stand the "on-rails" experience...Hell of all things that makes star wars flippin Star Wars , I.E. the epic space battles..are now reduced to "on-rails" shooting experience. As for the guy above, I completely agree there is so much more then the light and dark and I feel like Bioware is going to shoe-horn players into strict rigid roles with little wiggle room to RP and or to at least live out "their " character.
But we have a few months left so come December I am sure the reviews will pour in.
LOL...so true... I have dealt with SOE support before and it is akin to cutting one's self with a butter knife..takes 15 min just to break the skin..
Anyhow i am pumped...no BFR's?..FFS finally, it really ruined the game for me and it was one of the main reasons why I unsubbed. Very excited about this, I am hoping this baby delivers at least half of what it promises...
As much as I want to be the hopefull optimist here Brendan, CCP dropped the ball with Incarna, big time.
Let me take a step back further...Anyone recall the design a spaceship contest CCP did..anyone take a look at the fine print when we would see that ship design in game?...2 years according to CCP...
I dont know what the issue is in Iceland..lack of common sense or knowledge but to string along a customer base for nearly 4 years and deliver this DOA abortion of an expansion is a sick joke. Everything is broken in this expansion. Heck my brand spaking new desktop that makes my eyes bleed with the cutting edge hardware I crammed into it runs at the speed of frozen molasses when doing anything in this station enviroment.
Not only are we given drab quarters, a door mockingly displayed yet unable to open and a metrick F***ton of lag to come with it.
No Incarna is crap and should be treated as such, and CCP needs to know it one way or another. Clearly the animosity shown here by the player base clearly reflects that sentiment.
Apocrypha was the last expansion that really pushed the envelope with Eve. CCP now pushes the envelope of patience of its consumer base. This game is stagnating and I am afraid that CCP will resort to poorly thought out knee jerk reactions to attempt to revive this game.
Don't get me wrong, I have been bittervetting since 2004 in Eve, but to see what has become the state of the game lately just plain ol sucks. Not only is Sov broken, Faction Warfare is broken, agents are broken, null sec and low sec are broken, in addition bugs and requests that have fallen on deaf ears for the past several years also.
Yes Incarna perhaps may be a stepping stone to some great and uber awesome ideas for eve...But its launch, and implementation are absolute crap, and no amount of sugar coating will fix this. We are living in the now and impressions are crucial, and Incarna just pooped in my tulip patch, and I am not impressed. No wonder retention is horrid after this expansion...4 years for this?!..Yeah right.
And here i got excited for a new playable race reveal..Seriously Cryptic, at least release the Romulans as a playable race before the world ends next December 21st.
Since I have been playing in Ocotober of 2004, lag has only got worse, granted player populations were much lower and pvp was not a common occurance but as time went by even 200+ man battles are becoming lagfests.
Honestly if they put as much effort into devloping Incarna as they would into fighting the war on lag this would have been addressed by now.
All this is, is just more fluff. Still directly avoiding the question as to whether or not MT items will give other players in game advantages. Yes or no will suffice. dancing around the issue as CCP has will only fuel the rumour mill and hearsay train. The fact that they are downplaying everything shows that there is a massive disconnect between what CCP believes is right and what the community sees.
It is understandable that CCP wants to develop new featyures to attract new players and ease the learning curve and transition into eve,
Incarna was supposed to do that. It has not, instead its another half finished expansion with overview bugs that make the game unplayable (client patch #5 was out last night for borked overviews). In addition players are miffed at the fact that COSMOS, exploration and SOV/Faction warfare has yet to be looked at and re-balanced.
Ive been playing since 2004 (somewhat bittervet) and the stream of half finished expansions and addons is getting stale. Unfortunately MT are becoming the de-facto standard for MMO's, and even EVE as a bastion of MT free enviorement is not immune. CCP needs to stop *******g into the proverbial player base tulip patch and start listening to the community feedback.
I remember the first time i saw a unlocked jedi on Bria server on Tattoine as they were being chased by a massive imperial pvp flagged mob.
Or the massive npc battles against tusken raider spawns. Ill never forget how cool it was just running accross a random hunting party somewhere in te wilderness and setting ip camp with them and sharing stories.
Unfortunately as long as there is demand for people who need in game currency this problem will not go away. I'm curious to know the acutual numbers behind RMT operations such as this and how they effect the games economy. Having played EvE Online it has become the norm to run accross multiple constelations that are being "Botted" by macro ratters. Granted CCP does try to clamp down on it, they are not doing enough. Pretty sick seeing that prisoners are forced to do the same.
Indeed, but ill feed your troll... When someone goes out and spends 50$+ on the game and is a loyal prior customer and or subscriber..it is a kick in the face. Plain and simple. All this is just a free trial that has been expanded. As for further details about the hybrid plan..The FAQ is right there for everyone to read and see, just how crap tastic it is.
I live in Null Sec as part of a Major Alliance and I am excited about Incarna, hate it or love it, this is a small step forward to full blown avata'r in game which opens up lots of social/pvp/pve experiences to be had.
This is not to say that issues about SOV mechanics and warefare need to be addressed, but I hardly doubt there is this so called massive exodus of "Veteran" Players because of this. I have played eve since October of 2004 and it's a nice thing to see how far this game has come since then.
