Got a Collector's Edition of The Old Republic from my girlfriend. Having a blast with my Jedi Shadow. One of the best MMO launches I have experienced so far. :)
You know what, ToTC and GearScore killed all the previous tiers of content. It's unfortunate. I loved the flavor and variety found in the previous instances. Even Naxx has more of that than ToTC. The only unique experience you would get from it are the occasional nerd rage/loot rage when joining PUGs and that was even half amusing at best.
Knights 2 might be a disappoint compared to the 1st for you. It was for me. :s Whatever happened to that modding effort to create a whole version of the game? (Dropped zones included)
I can't think of a game other than EVE Online where guilds (corporations/alliances) really make a massive difference.
I also believe that guilds helped me enjoy MMOs better as they provide you a pool of players that you can ask advice/help from. I find it easier to ask guildmates rather than total strangers for tips.
Great article! Though I have a love-hate relationship with EVE's relatively slow pace compared to WoW, the lore and politics never fail to intrigue. :)
Just a question, does this mean individual players make their own investments on planets without having to need a corporation/alliance? (Sorry I've been out of the game for a year now.)
