Wings Over Atreia: Conquering the level grind
Jun 22nd 2010 9:15AM (Massively)Also, I think the term 'grind' is being thrown around far to bashfully, sure Aion is a grind (I've not reached level cap yet) but its nowhere near titles such as Lineage 2, Archlord, the original Everquest and Ultima - two of which are/were western developed games.
Ultimately if you seek to do so, everything can be reduced to a grind, I guess it's up to individual tastes and personalities to decide whether or not a game/action is grindy for them. Also I don't think Aion was marketed to the est as an afterthought, I've been playing Korean MMOs for years and there are definitely people out there in the Wet who like them, again though - I guess its an issue of taste, perhaps even endurance if you want to be bold about it.

Mar 12th 2009 11:14PM (Massively)Massively Speaking Podcast Episode 45
Mar 4th 2009 8:28PM (Massively)I just recently stumbled upon this site (God knows how, think it was after a few beers the other night) and I just wanted to firstly say that you have a great atmosphere going here, I've spent my MMO allotment of time (5 hours) this evening browsing and sifting through this site instead of smashing Badgers in *insert MMO of choice*.
Anyway, I was real interested in the new AoC info, I do hope that Funcom manage to get some free-trial promotions organized as I would like to have another go to see how things have developed since I left more than a year ago. It's nice to see developers listening to players (Itemization and what not) and is a good sign if nothing else that the MMO community is a strong one, and probably unique (in some regards) in that both the players and developers work together to make said games better.
Extremely enjoyable Podcast, thanks again.
