The Daily Grind: Your a idiot

Dec 16th 2009 10:28AM (Massively)
I honestly get entire sick of the grammar out there in games, it's such a freaking eyesore by lazy people. Don't even try convince me that typing "u" is really any faster than "you," it's not. Well, only if you have no wish at all to speed up your typing or at least try to do something right. Honestly, my guild, which we've been together for the last 7 years, we will not take anyone whom cannot spell any variation of "your" or "you're." We noticed a difference of quality in the people who can do so, they're far more reliable, intelligent, and able to communicate far better.

As a side note, if I receive "txtspk" on my phone, I won't read it. My friends know this now, which is resulting in them actually trying to form coherent words. Oh and when I am in a game, if someone is purposefully making a spelling mess or just being lazy I will literally treat them like they're typing jibberish, making sure they understand "u" is not a word, "u" cannot be used to reference anything, oh, and "ur" is a caveman's name.

WoW is a terrible MMO, but this mouse is awesome.

Aion gets reviewed: Let the drama begin?

"A good control system similar to WoW?" How can you even call WoW's system functional? It's got one of the worst control schemes of any MMO out there, and unfortunately due to it's success, it spread.

I'm sorry, but mashing hotkeys will never, ever, be a good property in a game. It's contrary to any system of skill, or even competence and coherent thought.

Five reasons to play Aion (continued)

You, Dudemanjac said it best actually. Correct. Certain jobs should have certain purposes and to achieve a goal, you should have to work as a team.

Also, I'd love to tackle the existence of instances, but that is for another time.

Five reasons to play Aion (continued)

To address the ranting following my comment, I will say the following.

Yes, I quested, I leveled somewhere around 7 characters all told, though mostly not to cap. I quested on all of them but one. Why? Questing is the worst possible way to level ever. It makes trying to solo in FFXI pre-2006, which was nearly impossible feel like a walk in the park, while winning the lottery, and being on drugs.

Secondly, you'd be happy to know. I played it off and on- Not really because of my wanting to play it, but *gasp* guess what? My girlfriend at the time played it on and off, so I played with her. And for the record, on one of the occasions we leveled (and I think it's the only time I capped a character, which at the time was 60) completely duo'd or partied up. Which again, WoW is a terrible game for that. Just saying.

This brings me to another point on why WoW, and most MMORPGS suck. You can solo. You can solo as most any class. In what form of the sense is a game an Massively Multiplayer Online Game, if you don't spend most of the time working as a team? Now I know this is a completely foreign train of thought to all of the newbies out there (notice I actually spell words, instead of saying 'noob') but, this should not be a mechanic in an MMORPG- An action RPG, sure. But not an MMO. Now, there is an exception to this of course. You have one or two classes that can solo well, but are completely and utterly useless in PvP. This way, you get the best of both worlds. The silly, casual gamers can have their solo play, while the serious, gamer vets can ACTUALLY have somewhat of a social experience.

If you feel like you can refute any of these points with more than "You suck." Please, do so. I'm waiting.

Five reasons to play Aion (continued)

Well, considering World of Warcraft is pretty much the generic, flavorite, crap brand of MMO's, with the most generic, monotonous game play known in the history of MMORPGs (I'm serious folks, Ragnarok Online had a better grind.) Really, it's not a compliment to be WoW style in any form. Even the hotkey bar in WoW which is one of WoW's biggest failing points is awful.

I won't continue, though I could. But for the record, I played WoW for 6 months in closed beta, until 3 months after release. Then again for two months in 2006, and for 6 months in 2007. Not once, not ONCE did I ever enjoy myself. And the worst part about it is the quests. The final time I played, I made a Vow to myself to get as close to cap as possible without questing. I stopped at level 54 I think it was, having only done 12 quests.

Oh, and if anyone can enjoy themselves with a hotkey masher style MMO (I'm not talking about Aion, I haven't played it, therefore I won't comment,) you need to seriously consider if you have a brain or not. Because, I'm betting you don't.
