Barely anything changed for release. There was no big patch, no big changes. It was more for hype than anything. What they did do, though, was completely revamp the combat system mere weeks before release, effectively rendering all the previous months of beta testing useless. :)
PvP in the game is broken with certain classes one-two shotting everybody. Rep system is ridiculous and group PvP on PvP servers boils down to nothing more than cash shop decked damage dealers being heal and buff spammed by their unflagged-for-PvP friends.
Instead of working to fix the current issues, Runewaker decides it's a good idea to release 1v1 arenas (worst idea ever, it should be 2v2 at least), which is -- big surprise -- broken. Plagued by lag and bad coding, characters jump all over the map and at times it's impossible to get in range of anyone to actually damage them. Players aren't matched by level so even a level 30 can get put up against a level 50... it makes me wonder if Runewaker even planned the system thoroughly before implementing it.
All in all, it just seems like Frogster and Runewaker are more interested in fine tuning their cash shop and releasing "exciting" new (broken) features than actually improving the existing game. It is just a beta, yes, but NA/International release is only a few short weeks away.
Um, respecs have always been available in WoW. This is just making it more convenient for the player.
I also happen to know many people who have played the same class with the same spec for a very long time. I myself have played a Resto Druid ever since classic WoW, and even though I plan to make use of dual speccing, I would never switch to Balance or Feral for endgame PvE. Healing is what I do and what I love, and there are many people who have also found their calling in a certain class and spec, so no, I don't see how this is at all a necessity that WoW has missed out on?
I can name three games that look just as good if not better: Aion, LotRO, and FFXI. I love WoW and I think Ulduar looks awesome, but it is definitely not the best looking MMO on the market.
The game is impressive up until level 20. Just good enough to hook players and perhaps entice them into shelling out some cash to the cash shop. It doesn't seem to last, though, if even the community mentors criticizing the game is any indication:
