Not to be little massively or the game news groups but there are reporters who not about real life events, have themselves or their articles labelled in the same way as you have and take with much more dignity and grace than you have.
As for the majority of your closing argument you are basically pigeon holing everyone that isn't going to agree with you into a group "doesn't care" and then put your own views higher than them by saying "It doesn't hurt no one". That's elitism and a horrible argument.
For the minority: If DCUO is what lore obsessed people have to look forward to it is a sad day for MMO fans. Especially since its in a comic universe that can have as many alternate worlds as writers so creating a "lore" reason for something is as easy as a rune keeper creating fireballs.
I want to see what the pricing model is but even if its another 15 dollars a month I just won't get that second account. But if its 15 dollars a month it better be a deep and complex experience like eve is. Id like other things to do than just shoot people as well.
I do agree, negative reviews are needed, it just seemed like everyone was beating a dead horse (on both sides actually). The system is by no means perfect, it is the first iteration of the idea after all, so I think that if it catches it will see improvement. I both think and hope that.
Cryptic is being annoying about not saying anything on it, as far as I know they haven't even said what their subscription model will look like. When they bring that info up I will full support one side or the other.
I don't know, it does take time to make money in MMOs as well as good gear. Its not a direct correlation, cause you can pitter around, but you can do the same thing in real life too. The only difference I see is where the investment in time is: A raider invests in the game and a deep-pockets-man invests in real life. I don't advocate raid quality items for sale but that is what I see when I look at the system mentioned.
Actually your entirely right Devilsei I don't get at all why you guys are bitching and complaining. If this succeeds then sure other will probably copy and hopefully improve on the idea (Making everything obtainable, cosmetic or not). But all of you are so vehement that this concept and game are going to fail that why does it matter? If you think it could change the industry but also think it will horribly fail why spend the time to chat about it?
How small are all of your penises guys? Seriously you are getting pissed because someone has more money to spend then you. Do you get pissed when you see that bad ass raider running around in Dalaran or one of the Capital cities in War because they have more time to spend than you? Or because you can't get into a guild that will take you? No you probably just sit there and go damn I wish I had no life to be able to farm those dungeons too. Nerd rage has gone to an all time low.
Champions Online isn't charging money for open beta, its allowing those that preorder to get in without trying to get one of the however many keys they are giving out. Crimecraft probably has a deal with fileplanet, as do a lot of companies that want their beta to go out selectively. For those that subscriber to fileplanet can get into betas that the site runs ahead of time, usually 2 weeks ahead or so.
