No. Subscription games are also necessary in the MMO market.

As excited as I am for this game I will hold off untill a month after launch to wait for feedback before jumping in the game.

Take a peek at RIFT's shiny Infernal Dawn concept art

People that complain about attention given to raids don't want the devs to give equal attention to other components of the game. They want the devs to stop developing raids period. They're hypocrites considering the amount of content that Rift released that caters to non-raiders.

The Daily Grind: Is maintenance mode better than nothing at all?

@Graill440

Depends on the type of game actually. A theme park will die without new content but I could see a game like EVE continuing for years without any new content at all.
The only game company that actually does something to justify a sub fee nowadays is Trion with Rift. In that aspect they remind me of older companies that sticked truly to the subscription model releasing content regularly which justifies a subscription. Maybe that will change as the company grows and gets older as it did with every other company.

World of Warplanes is adding dragons for that extra kick of historical accuracy

Wow. What a great idea for a PvP MMO: Dragons vs Warplanes. They may have struck gold there if it wasn't an April Fool's joke.

The game is not full raid or die and it doesn't look anything like Warhammer. Go troll elsewhere.

The problem is the tone of these articles. They added a lot more to the game besides raids.

WAR40K devs laid off, game will no longer be an MMO

Mar 29th 2012 5:12PM (Massively)
I'm sad that people lost their jobs and surprised by seeing people from Relic being laid off, especially considering that their work in the Dawn of War series has been interesting, if not in the plot of the games at least in the playability.

However, I am relieved that this game won't be an MMO. A two faction MMO doesn't fit the Warhammer 40k universe.

RTSs!! Duh!
And I could see the WH40K working as an MMO-RTS.

MapleStory gets political, players respond with bewilderment

Since there's no edit button and I wrote that before my brain was functioning ( no coffee) here's the corrected version:

So because the poll shows that people playing Maple Story prefer Obama that injects this company's view into politics? Last time I heard players of a game don't define the politics of the game developer.

Oh, never mind. You must be using conservative "logic".
