Curiously, why do you think EA would shut down WAR when DAOC and UO are still supported?

Winds of Change to blow through Warhammer

Apr 29th 2009 2:26PM (Massively)
What part of "...by testing a new mechanic called The Winds of Change (WoC)." followed by a link to the official article was misleading?

This was written before the server maintenance news piece came out but even so, Mythic has not said they are scrapping the idea, merely that it won't be activated when the server is brought back. It could be back tonight for all we know.

Warhammer: Where are all the gank groups?

I didn't realize that killing people as efficiently and with as much style as possible was considered being a 'cancer' or 'destroying another person's game play experience' when you're playing a PVP/RvR game... ;-)

Actually mate, Mark Jacobs does claim that WAR is competing with WoW:

"This is the beginning of a rather lengthy battle with the guys at Blizzard," Jacobs explained. "We’re in this space to be successful and, when you have a competitor that is as successful and important to the games industry as WoW has been, you don't go into this space unless you're willing to spend money and spend time and really compete against them."

You got it! And I will echo that burying your head in the sands of WoW (or any MMO) to avoid RL issues is never a good idea in the long term. Bursts of entertainment are a good way to keep your spirits/energy up in tough times, but taking it too far is unhealthy.

I was simply trying to be as over-the-top as the original article. I believe they took an interesting concept and spun it with satire. I had a good chuckle!
