I canceled Star Trek online when I played late beta and it felt like an early alpha. Thats when I realized the game would be released far before it was polished, and not worth my time.

@(Unverified) Reven was horrible, however the Bane series is some of the best Star Wars writing out there. If you think the SW franchise can do better you may have missed episodes 1-3. The Bane series had better character development and a more interesting plot than any of those movies. "simplistic characters, ham-handed attempts to create drama, and unfathomable leaps of logic involved in the actions taken by the characters" that IS Star Wars! Save the original trilogy; (unextended), the franchise doesn't offer much more.

What it all boils down to is; mmos are an evolved genre. just as a fps and rts cannot be compared and homogenized as "games", mmos are beyond the state where they can be labeled into one. With the evolution of the genre and technology I predict in five or so years new terms will surface like mmfps, persistent world strategy, etc.

I remember a time when terms like fps and platformer did not exist, and this discussion was happening over the term "games". Same argument just different words. The genre will continue to branch and evolve the sooner we accept that the better.

PHASING!!!! Phasing adds soo much wow factor to questing in new zones, and lets the world change while you are experiencing it. It's a technology we will see in mmos for many many years to come.
