I got this virus and had my two WoW accounts stolen. Ironically my Symantec virus scanner declared to computer to be completely clean and I had to download Avast to locate the trojan.
There's another easy fix! People could take off their tin-foil hats and realise that your NAME is not some kind of super sensative information. Google yourself, I guarentee if you type your name into Google half of you won't even find a single page about yourself because thousands of other people share the exact same name as you.
It's your real name, not the key to your house. Really if you're so paranoid about social contact that you believe you shouldn't tell people your real name you shouldn't be playing a game which requires you to interact with other people. Final Fantasy XIII is pretty good, or Fable 2, try them out instead.
Except this system is intended to be for real life friends or really close internet friends. Not randomers you met on a PUG that you thought were cool as the article above said. If you don't trust these people with your real name (or they don't already know it) then you shouldn't be trusting them to be a Real ID friend.
I don't see why not to use it, so I will. Who is going to know anyway? It's not like there's a big sign on your armory saying "I USED THE BUFF TO KILL THE LK I'M A N00B!"
Interesting article. I agree with the majority of your points however you do seem to have a very insulting way to refer to teenagers and I can see why some are becoming offended upon reading the article. I imagine however that this is simply because i'm not used to the common American psycho-babble inspired over-parenting that we're not subjected to in Europe.
Perhaps these teenagers responding to the article would be a little more open-minded about your points if you were a little more open-minded about them and wrote as if they were teenagers because reading the article it could be written about a 10 year old rather than a 16 year old.
