That IS a hilarious image. Welcome back to EQueue. :) Matt, do you have a large version of that? I have friends who'll get a kick out of it.

In spite of grind and whatnot, I was looking forward to trying out the game (love the art direction). However, with the looming NCSoft suit, I'm not going to invest in a game that might be sued into oblivion and shut down. Regardless of time spent, I don't want to play the guessing game of what happens to my account/credit card/email information if they do shut down, because you *know* they'd have to liquidate hardware...

SOE touts one million new DCUO players

I've been playing CoH for 7 years off and on (always subscribed, though) and lifetimed CO. Even after watching videos and following DCUO, I just couldn't justify the purchase.

However, I've been playing it pretty much nonstop since it went F2P; I'll admit that the quality is up there, and it's far prettier than CO and CoH. The action-combat-arcade-fighter style is a fantastic and dynamic departure from the standard tab targeting/MMO fare I'm used to.

I do miss a few things that the other games offered, such as: character customization depth (although what is there is very clean and easy to access; armor and clothes look 'fitted' with minimal clipping), more than 3 travel power sets, and variety of powers in general. It's certainly more well-written than CO, and probably the most, best voice-acting I've heard in an MMO. The music and atmosphere is expertly done, and makes up for its shortcomings.

I wasn't prepared to like it, but after hours with the staff power set, I'm kinda hooked. I hope CoH will be half as dynamic with their staff set when that comes out!

CCP layoffs affect 20% of worldwide staff, company focusing on EVE

I can see that...maybe there should be a semicolon after 'staff' instead of a comma: CCP layoffs affect 20% of worldwide staff; company focusing on EVE

Those layoffs affect more than a hundred people; hope they can find something soon in Atlanta. I don't know much about the game development market there.

Hellgate is cursed... in a good way

I'm curious as well, having wholeheartedly subscribed to the original. I loved my Engineer and her huge cannon. I saw a Youtube video review of it, and the gameplay looked nearly identical to what I remember. Might have to give HGG a shot, if they haven't locked everything I did like behind a new cash shop. >_>

I must be behind on my reading, didn't even realize this was going away! I enjoyed seeing what other games I didn't play had to offer! I'll admit, I didn't click through as often, but I usually did read and look with interest.

If it was a lack of content...well, I have many folder full of beauty shots from various games, I just assumed they would have a ridiculous number of people and screenshots to pull from, so I never submitted (although one of my shots did get top heading for Tabula Rasa -- woot Shawn!).

Sad to see it go. Maybe we can still submit somewhere in case editors needed good screenshots from a game they were talking about.

Yah, it's a big update!

It IS an underrated game. I got started a few weeks ago by chance because a friend picked it up thinking *I* already had it (yes, Steam said I owned the game even though I never even looked at it...sneaky!). So, I decided to give it a go.

Even though at first I found it to be sparse, it grew on me. Apparently the PvE open world was added just this year, so most of the new content I was playing was new. I'm mostly a PvE person, but I have played their PvP on occasion. I LOVE their 10 person PvE raids, you just queue up for it and off you go. They're defensive raids, so basically you settle back and start killing waves of enemies.

It is fun although demanding skillwise, since PvE group missions are limited to 4 people, so you do have to pull your own weight. It's a very fun departure from the normal MMO tab targeting, since aiming and leading your shots DOES count. Too bad head shots don't hurt more than body shots, but that's a minor quibble.

Going F2P was a good move for them, they certainly got my Elite Agent money, and I've had a blast with it. I wouldn't have tried out the game otherwise.

BioWare devs talk SWTOR combat animations, answer PvP questions

As much as I'm looking forward to the character-focused stories and crafting system (and I'll admit it, space combat >_>), the art direction and animation are inferior to even the original KOTOR. In fairness to BioWare...it does have different teams, and this isn't the one working on Mass Effect 3, after all.

SWTOR shows us how to level like a Smuggler

@Space Cobra
Off-topic but totally on the mark. :) It's sad that he can't let it be; it's like someone addicted to plastic surgery. A little bit here or there, if you must, but don't go nuts...

Back on topic. The animation and textures still bug me, and the Smuggler video doesn't compensate enough for that. Since I already preordered, I'm hoping the customization and story will far outweigh the shortcomings. Yes, when it comes to Star Wars I suffer from Stockholm Syndrome.
