DC Universe reveals Tomorrow District, today

@MrGutts

From what I understand, you need to submit a screenshot of the preorder receipt/email thing from the online sources (but as I ordered from Gamestop, I can't personally say).

And when you do, there's no confirmation email, just fyi. Nothign saying "Hey dude, we got it, just wait and such".

@MMOenthusiast

Nah man, the "Send a picture of your Preorder receipt, get a beta invite by Nov 30th" thing came as a result of said launch delay until "Early 2011", so that wouldn't be it. Just tired of waiting, altho honestly, it could be a blessing in disguise.

With the delay, I"ll get to demo the game before it launches, see if its worth it...With the push-back, its treading dangerously close to my FFXIV PS3 launch time, and that's what I'm more interested in as it were.

Anyone who's done this have an ETA on how long it took to get approved and your beta code?

What a bunch of horseshit.

I preordered at Gamestop. I don't need to save my receipt, its tied to my account, AND with Gamestop just switching over to the Power UP Rewards, My preorder isn't listed on that page, as it only shows preorders you made WITH the new card.

What kind of ass-backwards beta promotion is this?

DC Universe Online delayed until early 2011

So how are they going to guarantee me a beta spot? I preordered via Gamestop ffs. /sigh Disappointed here. Was looking forward to it next month, but hey, At least its not coming out before its ready.

First Impressions: Final Fantasy XIV

Sep 22nd 2010 11:58PM (Massively)
I find it funny that so many people misconstrue something entitled "First Impressions" with "Review".

Would it help if it was called "My First Impressions"? How about "My First IMpressions, My Opinions, Yours may be different, and I am okay with that but these are mine"

Geez people. Get over yourselves. First Impressions has always been an opinion column on Massively. That's at least been my "impression."

Funny. When a member of the Media puts up an Editorial, they don't start questioning the integrity of the LA Times or CBS. Jesus.

The Daily Grind: How do you like your character customization?

Sep 11th 2010 11:01AM (Massively)
I read this a few days ago, so correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe in the interview it was stated that once you unlocked that gear, the appearance of it was permanently unlocked on your account, even if you discarded the gear at a later date?

I like this idea of having an extra layer of something to accomplish. You see a particularly stylish piece of gear that would suit your theme, or an alt you'd been kicking around in your head, so you go quest it, kill the big bad guy, whatever, and its yours forever after that. I like that.

Honestly, I don't think the unlocking gear/appearance items is the situation. The REAL question is "How limited are the options at Character Creation?"

That's the $64,000 Question.

The Daily Grind: What unique class is your favorite?

Sep 4th 2010 3:11PM (Massively)
Hell yeah, man. 'Chanter was my main in EQ. Easy to learn, hard to master and such. I never played a class where I used such a high percentage of my spells, and if you played an Ency, you know you had a crapload of spells lol.

Too bad the MMO trends towards Solo vs Single Mob now, instead of Group vs Single Mob. pure CC/Debuffer class is basically dead :(

The Tattered Notebook: Finding the right guild

Aug 30th 2010 6:06PM (Massively)
Your reply is exactly the problem, and I believe, correct me if I'm wrong here, the thrust of his post.

Level to Cap, Learn a valuable tradeskill, etc etc, is a way to show the people in a guild what you can do for THEM, which is the opposite of how it was in the old days, which was a major part of this article.

Back in the day, you guilded up based on similar-ideals. Are you a bunch of Altamaniacs that like to do a bunch of grouping at several levels? There was a guild for you. Do you want to grind out max level and start the raiding cycle? There was a guild for you. Do you want a guild of Bank toons to have someone to talk to while you set up your trader in the Bazaar? (loleq) There was a guild for that.

@OP. I think the issue might be rose-colored glasses, on both of our parts. There have always been the End-game raiding guilds, with their ungodly requirements, strict class recruiting, schedules, DKP, and required attendance. With MMOs hitting the mainstream, and the ease at which you can achieve end game success (lolwow), the top of the heap is much larger than it used to be.

While, say in EQ 2002, You might have had the top 5-10% of the population doing the End-game content, nowadays, I'd venture to say the End Game's population would be closer to 50%.

I may have under/over estimated in those percentages (of which I pulled out of my ass), but The difference between them is my point.
