EverQuest II delays expansion launch overnight [Updated]

Dec 7th 2011 1:40AM (Massively)
Gaming hypocrisy by a LOT of people here. Everybody wants to get all tight about the game not launching now. But nobody seems to recall how angry they were when SOE launched SWG when it clearly wasn't ready. Everybody complains and wails and bickers about that. Everybody says "get it right." So SOE decides "hey, let's get it right and avoid a massive fail-launch" and what do people here do? Complain. Cut out the crap and get over yourselves. Look beyond the short-sighted wants and needs and realize that SOE is doing the right thing.

@Ren54 Sounds like you could use a dose of empathy.

I actually have two installations on my PC. The current WoW install and the BC WoW install. Whenever I want to venture around in WoWMapViewer, I edit the registry for the WoW install location, and then fire up WoWMapViewer. When I'm done, I change the registry entry back. You could also just delete the registry entry entirely and achieve the same thing, since the WoW client will add the entry when it first launches. Bear in mind, I'm not "playing" Burning Crusade. I'm using a third party program to browse the Burning Crusade install maps.

The last version I can get working with WoWMapViewer is BC. And Nagheen, didn't you see my post just a bit up?

I just so happen to have Burning Crusade installed on my PC that I use for WoWMapView from time to time when I feel bored. I flew under Zangarmarsh, and indeed nothing physically there. That said, Ghostlands, Azuremyst Isle, and Outland are all on one "map." Ghostlands are northern-most, Azuremyst Isle is SE of that, and Outland is SW of Ghostlands.

So long as the column is more regular than the oft-promised "Patches of Yesteryear," I'm looking forward to more.

I am loving how instances are rolling. DPS needs to actually pay attention, and tanks can't just put it in cruise control. I've DPSed with several tanks who are marking mobs again, and it really makes these instances fun.

I really hope this truly is the future of WoW, because I miss it. I grew tired of just running in and AoEing everything while the tank lulz and thunderclaps, etc.

The Soapbox: Don't hate the game, hate the copy

Enamelizer,

Your opinion is noted that you believe WoW is a bad game. That being said, WoW is a successful game, and many people disagree with you. If you would like to expound on why you believe WoW is a terrible game (aside from the steller UI, modibility, accessibility, replay factor, social aspects, and uniqueness of classes, etc etc), then please do so.

Simply proclaiming that WoW is a terrible game is nothing more than opinion. At this point, you appear as someone who needs to bash WoW for your own gains, instead of acknowledging the success that WoW has had. Instead of saying "hey, you like WoW, that's cool! I do not" you appear compelled to say "WoW is a terrible game because it does not agree with my preset requirements for what a good game is." See the difference?

You won't see me telling you why WoW is so great, but instead I can tell you why I enjoy WoW. I enjoy it more than my first MMO, SWG, or the subsequent MMOs I've played (EQ2, LotRO, FF11, WAR, CoH/CoV, PotBS, and FF14, plus a few others I've trialed). That is NOT a proclamation that WoW is better than those games; merely, that I enjoy WoW more than those games.
