There is an inspect option. You just "check" them just like when you are looking to go to someone's bazaar. That's been there since...day 1 I believe.

Final Fantasy XI shows off job emotes in a new trailer

Amazing. How come they come up with such great ideas for FFXI. STILL, and yet FFXIV seems to be only about graphics?! Boggling!

Flameseeker Chronicles: Stop telling me how to get 50 points when I only have three

Oct 18th 2010 11:06PM (Massively)
Thank you for all the advice, however. You mentioned the Discordway build which looks awesome except one small problem. You have to do a good amount of the past 20 missions just to get the 3 necromancer heroes. On top of that, getting all the skills for the builds is another very difficult aspect if you haven't opened up the world via completing the missions.

I just wonder, why isn't there a soloer's guide to each campaign? I understand those who love the build aspect of heroes and your character but for me, it hinders my enjoyment of the story and exploring the world, which is probably why GW always bugged me a little bit. I guess I like my characters to be a bit more cookie cutter and not so flexible. I know, I'm probably a minority, but one none the less.

Anyway, I'll keep trying but the more I try to do the more I get overwhelmed and wondering if it's worth it. Almost like there is TOO much metagaming involved, which is funny for someone like me who loved metagaming FFXI characters. :D

I should add that my character name is Elocke Sern in game in case that helps anyone throw a bone my way :D

Thanks for this guide. BUT, I've gotten now to level 20 in each campaign and suddenly I can't complete the missions with henchies and heroes like I had been doing before. It's VERY overwhelming and really tough to find people on the exact same mission or in the same Noob category as myself. I joined a guild but all I see are invites to run FoW, or DOA or hard mode this or hard mode that or black moa runs.

Any advice for getting over this hump? I had NO idea about the IDing white items either, thanks to the poster above. I love the story in GW but getting to these post 20 missions suddenly the game is really difficult by myself.

NYCC 2010: Our interview with FFXIV's Sage Sundi and Yasu Kurosawa

Oct 11th 2010 11:46AM (Massively)
"Kurosawa was thrilled that so many players were happy with the crafting and that players use crafting as an alternate leveling method (rather than leveling just by killing things with weapons)."

Considering the fact that the game practically "forces" you to craft just to have any type of content other than grinding on mobs AND to have ANY type of gear in order to progress in later levels, I find this answer from the SE dev complete BS. What a way to spin that to make it seem like everyone is alternately leveling via crafting because they "want" to. I sure as hell don't. At least not the way FFXIV does it. I'm not a big crafter at heart, I'm a dabbler, so this gameplay type hurts those like myself.

On another point, lets get away from bombarding the devs with questions about the UI and performance, since those are pretty much a given and apparently they are aware of it. Let's address the complete lack of content in the game and how the game offers no long term goals to persue and in doing so really sucks the FUN, if there is any, out of the game.

To sum up, my issues with FFXIV aren't the UI and other issues so much as how boring the game is. Even exploring is pathetic with all the copy/paste terrain and being able to run from Gridania to Limsa Lominsa in about 40 minutes TOPS.

What happened to learning from FFXI? Where are all the side quests that FFXI showers upon us from every major city and outpost? There isn't even ONE quest like this in FFXIV. The guild leves don't count as they are akin to dailies and have no real story drive nor any cutscenes to them.

Something else they should do with the guildleve system is to remove the stupid 36 hour window. Why punish people for playing your game? Seriously? Is this game only for the sado/masochist fetish crowd?

Bah, as you can see I'm annoyed. I supported SE for a long time up to FFXI, but ever since then, EVERY FF game has been horrible. To think I used to be a fanboi for this inept company.

Wasteland Diaries: Combat overhaul

Oct 8th 2010 5:39PM (Massively)
This is good news, as the combat is the number 1 reason I never subbed or bought FE. I always felt limited and frustrated with my controls when I tried to partake in ANY type of combat during my Free Trial period. I really wanted to get into the game to see what else it had to offer, but when combat, something you do 90% of the time in an MMO, is that bad, there really is no reason to continue.

Can't wait to try out the new combat system, hopefully on another free trial. If it doesn't blow me away I'll never look in FE's direction again.

The Daily Grind: What's the ideal pace for expansion releases?

Oct 5th 2010 9:03AM (Massively)
I concur with LordxMugen.

Although, while some of you are touting Blizzard for taking their time on these expansions, I still think they aren't giving us our monthly sub's worth of content in between expacks. I can't remember the last time I was tempted to resub to WoW just to play a new content patch. That's not good and because of that, my sub money has gone elsewhere.

Choose My Adventure: Second verse, same as the first

Sep 29th 2010 7:21PM (Massively)
I chose adventuring because I would really love for you to get to the 20s to truly see if you come across the solo leveling issues I found at those levels and that you can write about so that SOE can possibly for once maybe turn an eye towards that glaring issue with the game and the only reason I myself don't play anymore. Wow, that was a run on sentence. Sorry about that.

The Daily Grind: Are you buying Final Fantasy XIV?

Sep 22nd 2010 8:42AM (Massively)
Unlike others, I'm not afraid to adapt to certain control styles and I WILL be buying it and plan to be playing it hopefully by this afternoon barring any traffic accidents, coffee spills or server outages :D
