@fallwind Your entire argument boils down toa simple. I don't want to think, ask questions or LEARN, you basically expect an MMO to hold your hand step by step through every aspect of the game. I agree with Jef (rarely) on some points and disagree on others. His point is that just becuase one aspect of the game might not be toy our liking it may well be worth voerlooking that flaw (in the users opinion) for the sake of a greater MMO experience. As for the PvP ganking. Again take the time to learn about how PvP engagements work, and it is completely feasible for a new(ish) player to kill an experienced player. The most common cuase of newbie death is ignorance of the situation on a tactical level. IE attacking battleships with a basic fit frigate.
I personally ahve a 6 month old account witha single character. I joined a good corp that is now part of the -RZR- Alliance. my 6 month odl character who was not focused on any one aspect but trained on an as-needed basis. Is now out killing 3bill ISk ships ina 65mil ISK battlecruiser. WHy, because I took the time to learn how things worked instead of relying on an internet strategy guide to walk me through every aspect of the 'gameplay' which begs the question are you really 'playing" a game when your followinga step-by-step strategy guide on how to defeat an encounter?
I made my point on what Mittens had said already, this comment is directed to all the blind haters and carebears that want thier gameplay spoonfed to them with as little actual thought as possible.
EVE IS a harsh world, EVE is NOT meant for people who are unable to make logical and tactical decisions. EVE is not for people that can't read before commiting to an action. EVE is not for people that can't accept the fact that you are just as vulnerable or dangerous as your (potential) opponent.
I like how all the EVE haters crying about spammers, scammers and griefer will ALL (every last one fo them) ignore the fact that any sort of griefing/scamming/spamming within the EVE universe is avoidable if not abelt o be turned around on the attempted scammer/griefer/ Dont be stupid and you wont have problems. be an ignorant carebear ssniffing flowers in the middles of a contested warzone and enjoy your clone jump home. /shrug
for all those hating on scammers, its simple, dont be an idiot and you wont be a victim. Deal with corp/allaince mates and LOOK/read what your doing first and you'll never fall victim to a scammer.
For all those hating on a community you've never been a part of. perhaps social segregation should start at the ability to choose your actions freely or by a predefined set of procedural steps (as in most MMOs)
Have we all forgotten we are using the internet for our gmes and thus the internet toghguys will ALWAYS be present EVERYWHERE. No game in existance is completely devoid os douchebags suck as our current CSM chairman. (whom I hope is stripped of his title (since he vote padded anyway) Most people in EVE are fairly genorous. giving away MILLIONS of ISK which equates to days/hours of thier time invested in aquiring it. there are corps and player groups whose sole purpose is teaching new players HOW to play well in whatever aspects they enjoy.
TLDR: don't condemn something you know nothing about.
@Dril EVERYONE is a "moron" for thier first 3-6 months in EVE. they don't ahve those fancy diagrams of EVE's learning curve for nothing. I've been playing fo six months and recently lost a ship due to accepting a hostile fleet invite and being warped to the baddies. It never dawned on me to think a hostile player could send a fleet invite during wartime....I was a learning experience.
I feel bad for the folks running EVE University, the games primary educational corp for all aspects of EVE, not just PvP. The decshield employed by E-Uni was in place to prevent frivolous(sp?) small corp wardec spam with the sole intention of forcing E-Uni members to not be able to play given the corps wartime SOP. Hopefully CCP allows the Uni some leeway with this or its going to cuase them some major issues.
I dropped thjis game 6 months after release and have never looked back.
RvR SHOULD NEVER be one faction vs. 1 faction. it invariably leads to population imbalance. EVERY single MMO that has tried this model has failed at it. there needs to be a teriary option for people to take otherwise people will always be drawn to the "better" side becuase the chances of rewards/victory are better.
Blizzard isa formulaic developer, they take waht worked in other similar games/genre's and rehash it. Hell they've done it to all fo thier IPs (tod eath mind you) I said the same about SC2 and hey look same gameplay same basic game just flashier graphics and a stricter paper/rock/scissor's mechanic than the original. Diablo same thing. Warcraft was the ONLY series that they provided any form of creativity, which died with WoW's Lich King expansion. At which point it became a spreadsheet game in thier office. "how do we keep the most number of subscribers, with minimal risk?"
