Official Scroll of Resurrection revamp details
Mar 6th 2012 11:22PM (WoW)Look at RAF. It's a great program that rewards new players but ultimately benefits the recruiters the most. The faster leveling, free levels and game time make recruiters want to go out and recruit as many people as possible.
This program doesn't provide as great an incentive. The mount's are basically recolored versions of old flying mounts we've had for five years. Plus, how many of these are you going to want to get? There's little incentive to keep bringing back more people after you've earned your first five opaque griffins.
Sure, there's always the reward of bringing old friends back into the fold. But added incentives like RAF's encourage recruiters to go the extra mile and think "Gee, I bet I can think of more people who may want to play this game or who have already." That's how good promotions work.

Mar 6th 2012 11:10PM (WoW)With this system, there's little incentive outside getting your friends to play again (which I admit is still pretty nice). But this whole system feels like its more rewarding to those who left and came back rather than those who stayed and are now working to get people to come back. They should have modeled this more like RAF, a system that while beneficial to the recruited, ultimately makes the recruiter feel the most valued.

Mar 6th 2012 4:57PM (WoW)Maybe we'll see some stuff popup when the site come back up. Right now these incentives are pretty weak compared to RAF where you get a two seated mount, free game time, and free levels for your characters. You need rewards like that if you want loyal subscribers to be active in bringing people into the fold.

Mar 6th 2012 4:32PM (WoW)Breakfast Topic: Could there be more than two factions?
Nov 6th 2011 8:13AM (WoW)It will be interesting to see what kind of factions, if any, will exist in Titan. Personally, I think they may just do away with them all together in their next mmo. All they really serve to do is create an atmosphere for world PVP that no one wants to partake in and divide players from one another. It's a neat idea but I don't necessarily thinks its accomplished what it was originally designed for.
The Queue: Late '90s nostalgia trip
Oct 8th 2011 12:03PM (WoW)I know there's always a lot of debate on how the different Warcraft novels stack up against one another, but how do you feel the Warcraft novels compare to the rest of fantasy literature?
Personally, I've been reading the Warcraft novels since Arthas came out and I can't help feeling that even Golden's work is only okay fantasy at best, with a lot of heavy-handed exposition and plots that while not terrible, aren't exactly riveting or surprising. I'd much rather be spending my time reading Martin, Joe Abercrombie, David Anthony Durham, Patrick Rothfuss, or any of the other countless fantasy authors and series out there. Am I asking too much from what are essentially young adult video-game tie in books? Are there any earlier novels I'm missing out on that you think would be more geared to my tastes?
