Layoffs hit NCsoft's North American offices

Oct 29th 2011 12:20AM (Massively)
I'm sorry that NaziSoft took their wrath out on their American employees, but I'm still THRILLED that Lord (and General) British took their @#$ to the cleaners in court.
I'll never forgive NaziSoft for killing Tabula Rasa without giving it a fair chance, or even considering making it a F2P title, like, oh, I don't know, ALL of their Guild Wars campaigns??
That whole damn company can rot in hell for all I care, I will dance on their grave if they ever shutter their offices, a pox upon them! Plague and pestilence I bid you, NaziSoft! Your just "rewards" are the wage of your actions, enjoy them.

I've been playing STO since launch and while it has come a long, long way, it does still have a ways to go.
Season 4 ground combat revamp is on the Tribble test server and it does help the "fun factor" quite a bit.
The new Starfleet Academy zone pictured above looks like it is going to be incredible, can't wait!

Our interview with Star Trek Online's executive producer Dan Stahl, part two

Jul 26th 2010 11:19PM (Massively)
Another excellent interview from "the man with the plan!"

Everytime I read an interview with DStahl, I wish more and more he had been the EP from day 1.

The Zinkster (former EP) had said in a particularly (in)famous posting that some people (about STO) "just don't get it." This was a hugely unwelcomed thing to say, and was like pouring gasoline, nay, nitroglycerin on an already roaring fire.

This interview demonstrates even more that Daniel Stahl "gets it."

Ant, please don't troll here.

I've been following this game for almost three years now, although the first two really don't count since P-petual lost the IP and Cryptari bought it up. Anyhow, I was very skeptical at first and still have a few lingering doubts, but overall I'm very eager to give this a try.

Preorder CE is in place, just waiting for my open beta key to arrive so I can begin (and hopefully complete) my journey into the Trek universe.

Why do so many people diss on a game for not being what THEY want it to be, and instead judge it for what it is?

Is this the STO I had hoped for since P-petual first announced it several years ago? Not quite, not even that close, really. But, I will not trash a game, especially one I haven't even had a chance to PLAY yet, just because it's not what I want/expect in a game.

Anyhow, if I set aside my preconceived notions and personal desires, STO still looks like it could be a LOT of fun! Take the game for what it is, not what you wish it to be, and we all might just have a good time together.

Speaking of good times, any word on what to expect on Risa?

Earthrise launch Q2 2010, studio visit reveals

Dec 29th 2009 12:47PM (Massively)
I've been looking forward to this ever since NaziSoft cut Tabula Rasa off at the knees then finally beheaded it just when it was poised to really go places.

Even though this MMO has been through a few design changes, the overall concept has remained true and it appears it could be a premier SciFi RPG if it can finally be brought to market. I, for one, look forward to giving it a try.

Not necessarily the system, but the game itself does sound reminiscent of TabRasa, may it Rest In Peace. /sigh

The screenshots also recall a lot of the TabRasa "flavor", with some elements of GuildWars Factions tossed in.

The Digital Continuum: Why must MMOs die?

I have been a TR subscriber since day one, and I am extremely unhappy and disappointed with NCSoft's short-sighted decision.

I am cancelling all NCSoft related games and activity, even those F2P games GW, Factions, Nightfall and EotN. I will NEVER purchase nor partake in any NCSoft games ever again.

Goodbye, Tabula Rasa, and thanks for all the fish!
