Haha, I KNOW RITE, because Asia, or "the Far East" is one place of people who all look alike, have the exact same culture, architecture, foods, languages etc XDDDDD
I'm sorry, but this looks like ADHD babby's first MMO. OH MAN THIS IS SO COOL AND WE CAN PUT THIS IN AND YEAH THIS IN AND THIS OH MAN THIS IS GONNA BE SO SWEET. Having actually read the whole kickstarter page, this is just dumb. I like how people who pay a lot of money will have what appear to be game breaking advantages. Also, this guy is sitting on 27 million after taxes that he didn't have prior to the lottery win, he can very well foot the 1.1 million bill himself if he is so interested in it.
AND THUS, WE SEE ANOTHER NEW MMO, who is trying to be SWG. Is it me or did those unarmed animations remind anyone else of Teras Kasi? I hope this one succeeds and has good stuff and doesn't crash, burn, and die like Earthrise did. The environments look very pretty and the architecture that we've seen is quite pretty.
I'm fine with subscription, and I'm fine with cash shop. I'm not fine with an MMO coming out into our current market that has a mandatory sub and a cash shop at the same time. Especially when Funcom itself has had such success with the Conan switch, it really makes me wonder what the hell they are thinking with the payment model for secret world.
Are you freaking kidding me with that SWG example? This right here http://swg.wikia.com/wiki/Jax - anytime I got a mission to take out a nest of theirs on Endor big old NOPE from me. I only did it once by accident and after hearing the sound they make when they die I vowed to never again do such a crime. Plus I was skilling up Commando at that time so everything had to die with fire.
To be quite honest, there is nothing but good here. Yes, the few people who actually would use this for a good reason (aka actually playing the game) are impacted, but tough luck. There are plenty of games that I can't play being from NA, and you don't see me complaining about it (I might gripe but I accept the facts lol). Besides, every single time cross region play happens the people in the cold inevitably bitch about latency issues, so you really can't win.
The point is that a lot of other F2P titles don't hit you with so many limitations before you can even make a character, which can make it discouraging for new players. The point is I don't want to pay a sub but casually use the store, and needing to use said store for any of the interesting classes or races before I even start playing again is a deal breaker.
Take DCUO, which is another SOE F2P game. You can make all the power sets and weapons (or damn near all of them I don't remember seeing a limitation). LOTRO has only 2 classes for purchase.
Also, what kind of moronic comment is "if I was willing to pay a sub earlier"? I was willing to pay a sub earlier because there was no other choice, but now with so many MMOs out and F2P ones too boot, why would I waste my time on one that bars me from the get-go from doing what I want? I'm saying from a consumer point of view with regards to F2P switches, they can either have no income from me as before when I wasn't paying a sub, or they can have some income from me through cash shop transactions instead of none at all. If I don't even want to make a character due to the limitations without buying anything, I'm not going to play period.
