Vanguard going free-to-play this summer, beefs up dev team

Mar 21st 2012 6:03PM (Massively)
Vanguard was a great game marred by a poor / unfinished launch. Played the game for over a year and had a LOT of fun over that time. The game offers a lot to do and the open world dungeons and such are a very nice changed to the instanced MMO market of today.

Sadly this may be too little / too late. But we will have to wait and see how it goes.

BioWare announces free SWTOR weekend pass

Mar 13th 2012 12:17PM (Massively)
Does make one wander why they would be offering free weekend reactivations if they have 1.7 million+ subs and so soon after the games release.

Generally if your game is doing really good and growing then the last thing you will want to do is start giving game time away for free. Unless they are bleeding a lot more players then they first thought.

HeroEngine licensing takes off thanks to SWTOR's success

Feb 23rd 2012 3:38PM (Massively)
@Dumac Seeing as how Tera uses the Unreal engine and it manages to do things SWTOR only dreams it could do with the Hero Engine, says something all by itself.

Now if only they could tackle a good networking engine onto it handle some massive large scale 1k+ battles.

Star Vault partners with OnLegends for Mortal Online distribution

I cant believe any company would even attempt to publish this train wreck. I wander what kind of crack they where smoking to even look at MO as a potential title to publish..

And MO for consoles.. lol.. MO has a very very long ways to go before it would ever pass the QA process on a console. I cant see any console company allowing this game to happen.

One Shots: On a grand scale

@Danteeeee They ended up changing it back. You can now play on the main JK server as a free player. No subscription required.

EVE Online services restored

@Deadalon Just FYI CCP stopped being a indie company many many years back. They now employee over 250+ people. That is anything but a indie company. That's more employees then most MMORPG companys ever have.

Allods Online previews the new Reincarnation system

@bulldozerftw I think if you reread what RG said. He said that he doesnt play the type of games you think he would play

Nowhere did he say he didnt play his own games. I imagine he doesnt log into Ultima Online anymore and with TR gone its kinda hard to play that. I bet he logged alot more time playing the Ultima games and in Ultima Online then most other players did.

Jump into Drakensang Online with a closed beta key from Massively [Updated]

@Lobotomist Just FYI when I got into the closed beta months ago there was NO NDA that I agreed to. And at no point have I not been reporting bugs and providing feedback. I have been for months. It's just the simple fact nothing has really been fixed in that amount of time. Quests that are still missing simple text as far as how to complete them and such are very easy fixs that shouldnt take months to fix.

You guys are really not missing much with the game. Language translations and missing text are rampent within the game. After TRYING to test the game for several months. I have to say the developers really are in over there head on this one.

The game is NOTHING like the single player games. Its a diablo want to be game with horrible translation issues and missing texts. The game is years from being finished or ready to play.

Blizzard donates $800,000 from virtual pet sales to Make-A-Wish

May 5th 2011 8:46PM (Massively)
@eyeball2452 Well considering that they handled all the back end work for making the donations on behalf of everyone that bought the pet. I think they deserve credit for that also.

It would have been ALOT harder to get people individually to donate $800 Million to Make-A-Wish compared to just offering a pet up for sell and giving half of the sales to the foundation.

I would go on to bet that most of them people that purchased the pet have / had no ideal how to even goto Make-A-Wish an manually donate the money.
