That's not really up to you. Just sayin'.

The Daily Grind: What's the worst guild death you've witnessed?

Sep 10th 2011 9:15AM (Massively)
Hands down, the worst guild death I've ever experienced was the Tabula Rasa roleplaying guild I was in. Things were great for a while, and we were having a really good time doing in-character patrols, fortress defenses, and missions. But strong personalities within the leadership started clashing -- mainly due to miscommunication, misunderstandings, and a decided lack of tact on the part of one of the participants. That kind of spread to the rank-and-file, and it all came to a head within the space of days. The guild collapsed. I'm not really doing it justice here -- it was UGLY. Some of the members tried to restart it a few months later, but then the game went belly-up. :(

It sounds cheesy, but I've noticed that I haven't gotten super-involved or really close to another guild since... I've joined other guilds, and participated in them, but the thing with the TR guild left a really bad taste in my mouth.

Trion Worlds and Syfy to debut Defiance at E3 2011

I hear you about the God thing, but "emphasized drama too much"? Really? That's why SG:U stood head and shoulders above previous iterations of Stargate... heavy on character, interpersonal conflict and (relative) realism, light on the things which tend to make sci-fi suck (like bad dialog, unrealistic characters and a thick layer of cheese).

The Daily Grind: Does steampunk taint fantasy MMOs?

Steampunk GOOOOOOD. I'd love a big-name, well-done steampunk MMO. I think it would be fantastic.

The Daily Grind: Has an MMO made you sentimental?

Tabula Rasa. I had some really wonderful roleplaying experiences in that game, and I really got invested in the backstory and whatnot. I was very disappointed when they canned it -- it would have done well as a F2P game.

The Daily Grind: Shut a game down or let it waste away?

Apr 9th 2011 9:51AM (Massively)
Well, a company has be able to make money to operate. So if a company isn't able to do that properly, sure, they're justified in shutting a game down. These games are businesses, after all.

That said, I've been an unfortunate "victim" of a canceled game before -- Tabula Rasa -- a game that I feel was canceled way too early. From what I understand, there were more political reasons for it getting shut down than financial ones. I don't feel that's a good enough reason to cancel a game.

The Daily Grind: Have you ever bought gold?

@Nenene

Yes. Because one's ability to collect non-existent bits of money in a non-existent world is absolutely the way to measure one's ultimate worth. No, you priorities aren't f!@%ed up or anything.

Enter at Your Own Rift: Getting a head start

Sever queues aside -- which most people agree are is ust one of the things that sometimes happens when you jump into a game at launch -- RIFT is having one of the smoothest launches I've experienced.

Also, the game is fun. I know folks are decrying the lack of innovation, but honestly, I don't need a better mousetrap. I just need one that works. This works. Well.

Someone totally needs to bring TR back from the dead as an F2P title.

Y'all have to stop teasing me with Tabula Rasa pictures. I still have this incredible irrational hope that someone will resurrect it. I know it won't happen, but...
