The Daily Grind: Should big guilds have a mechanical advantage over smaller ones?

TERA PvP battlegrounds won't be in at launch, delayed until 'late summer'
Mar 31st 2012 11:08AM (Massively)Also, the style of the game to me is schizo and not very consistent. The humans look good as do the Barakas, Amani and High elves. The popuri, elin and male castanics just don't look like they belong in the same game as the other races. The design decisions feel more like a 1st year design student throwing every photoshop filter at something just because they can.

Mar 22nd 2012 12:14AM (Massively)While this is true, if everything goes up in price on the AH, but you can also gather ANY material in the game without needing either a skill cap or an actual profession, then you could just sell your linen scrap for 100g instead of the 1g it was going for last week. This isn't a fix for inflation, but it does allow those without gold to be able to get it pretty painlessly.

Mar 22nd 2012 12:05AM (Massively)OK, where is your example of them actually unbalancing the game by selling powerful items that are either impossible or very difficult to obtain in their cash shop?
Also, there are non-F2P games that have a cash shop item that can be traded for gold in game (ie: the 800 lb. gorilla WoW) and I would argue that is much worse in WoW since the game has a pretty steep vertical gear progression in it.

Mar 22nd 2012 12:02AM (Massively)This isn't news if you have been following the game. Anet hasn't hidden the cash shop from anyone, we've known for years there would be one. All I can tell you is that the game's horizontal progression means the cash shop will not have any unfair advantage in it.
Ask yourself first what is wrong with their cash shop and why before totally disregarding the game.

Mar 21st 2012 11:59PM (Massively)Or the player base could, you know, stop playing the game until an expansion comes out. There is this strange notion that we must constantly play an MMO all the time and if we have no content left to play (and don't like to roll alts or pvp) then we demand more content from the devs. This type of thinking comes directly from being forced to pay a monthly sub to play a game, and in that respect, yes I too would be demanding content. Since GW2 is a box buy game, and nothing in the cash shop is even remotely essential to be competitive, then there is really no reason to demand more content from them except for expansions.
Why is this so hard for people to embrace? We are ok with this with every other type of game but once you slap the "MMO" badge on it regardless of payment method, we demand more new content.

Mar 20th 2012 3:43PM (Massively)Uhh... maybe because in GW2 by the end of your personal story quests you will basically have the max stat gear?
Sorry, but I have a feeling the equivilent to Windforce won't be dropping the moment you ding max level in D3 (unless you are beyond lucky). This is why D3's RMAH gets a bad rap, because you can buy an extremely rare item that gives you an advantage over others for real money.
