Prices have been announced: "We expect individual titles to be priced @ USD$0.99 and game packs for USD$1.99 - some publishers may vary" http://twitter.com/manomio/status/5611429937
As with any gaming platform, the real test is going to be whether they ever release any great games for it. They say they plan to sell most individual games for $1 each.
The false idea that this only affects old hardware was just early speculation; many posts later in the thread completely disprove the theory. Three brand new discs all fail on my newer console, even when each installed to hard drive. All fail at exact same spot-- this isn't a disc read error.
I think I can speak for every hunter when I say we'd much prefer it if they fixed all the older hunter bugs first -- all of which are more frustrating...
A time-line of events, for non-hunters: 1. WotLK. Many hunter bugs introduced. 2. Hunters nerfed, big time. 3. More hunter bugs introduced. 4. One hunter bug fixed. Woot?

Ah, but you see, Discussion = Drama. If two people genuinely need an item, and they both roll, then all you can honestly complain about is your luck. The dice are there to even the playing field between timid players and bossy players, between the "in crowd" of the group and the outsiders. In a perfect world, there'd be no dice in WoW... but it's not a perfect world.
You really need to distinguish between a guild raid and a 5-man pick-up group. Discussion about who deserves the item more may work among friends and guildmates progressing through end-game raids, but it's pretty much useless in a PuG of strangers; as you point out, everyone can "discuss" why THEY need the gear more... and someone is going to get hurt.
For raids, every serious guild has some sort of DKP or EPGP loot rule system to keep things fair; raiding guilds that don't end up falling apart over loot drama eventually.
If you are getting a PuG together because you want a specific piece of loot, then you need to "discuss" that possibility BEFORE the group even begins the instance; if someone isn't okay with it, it gives them the chance to move on without wasting their time.
Hearthstone is the better Facebook app; love how it updates my Facebook news with my in-game achievements, and there's some other fun getting worked into it as well, such as "duels" on your Facebook page.
Even hardcore RP folks have to understand that the Warcraft universe has never been a hardcore realistic setting -- have you ever clicked multiple times on a unit in Warcraft III? You'll be greeted by all kinds of pop culture references that are about as far from "hardcore RP" as you could imagine.
There is a lot of room for humour in character and guild names, according to "Warcraft canon"... I think what bothers me more is seeing multiple words strung together to form a name, or things like "Dktank" etc. Yeah, there's a big difference between humorous and stupid or lazy.
I think the "pretty" explanation is probably right on the Horde side -- but on Alliance side, I think the explanation is pretty obvious: Arthas, the model for the class, is human.
