When I referred to selling levels I was addressing the buying of an actual level not unlocking new levels to earn and buy buying packs I mean the booster kind liek the personality pack etc...paying for an expansion I have no issue with as long as it is priced accordingly to the content offered.
Yeah I was considering a return to War but after reading about the sellign of levels and those packs...I don't think so,these recent things have turned me off SW:TOR more than any news coming out about the game ever could too.
I will take the middle ground kind of here.I will say for some people the lifetime sub might be worth it,I'm talking about RPers and other types that really only care about customizing the look of their character and RPing it's story. Those people don't really care about game play mechanics or content and will probably last the year and a half to get their money's worth.
Gamers however will only get between 1-3 months of play out of this depending on how casually you play. You'll have some fun with customization and making a few alts and getting them to 40 to explore the power options but that will be it.These people should go find the game for 5 bucks now and maybe get 3 months for 30 bucks...I think most people will get $35 bucks worth of play out of CO but buying a lifetime sub would be a gigantic waste of money for them.
I don't think the official hype train is that big TBH but I think the hype and hate trains by forum/comment section goers are both huge runaway trains.Bioware has not released much official information and mostly time line stuff. But anything they do release is picked apart word by word by haters and fanbois both and forums are flooded with random thoughts from both about tiny pieces of interviews and trailers.
I personally do not have enough information to make any decision on SW:TOR to criticize or make a informed decision on whether I'll buy it or not.I am not personally invested in it yet because of this. The same could be said of Guild Wars 2 which probably has a bigger blind faith hype train behind it.I won't make a decision on either until I feel i have enough info and preferably hands on experience with both.
The possibility of being able to play a wily Ravnos has made me more interested in this game but until I see solid gameplay details, demos and probably a hand son experience I'm not gonna make any decsions on how good this game is.
I was tempted to buy AoC:RotGS having not played the game since 3 months after launch. But after realizing It'd cost me twice as much to reactivate my account than to abandon my level 80 Guardian and other characters I passed.Seems like Funcom doesn't want to win back the subs they lost..they are only hoping for new ones.
you can't know if they would of charged for the adventure packs or not had they gotten away with charging for that first expansion.Maybe they wouldn't of but we know after the outrage about the first that they werent' gonna charge for any expansion for awhile at least.
