@Space Cobra Just goes to show that if you kiss a dev's arse enough, they will give you a job. The coverage of STO on massively has never reflected the prevailing views of the community. Even long time pro-cryptic lifers are on the outs with the game right now.

I read it differently honestly. Dan was a lot of negative things in STO (as a lifetime sub holder, trust me) but I got the impression he left over principles. The game has completely veered into full on monetization since he left. I'm pretty sure he objected to what the new overlords were telling him to do and was given an ultimatum (if not outright forced to resign).

The community absolutely hates what is going on with the game right now. Long time kool-aid drinkers (like The Grand Nagus) have finally realized what many of us saw months and months ago and are now negative about the game. They are adding loads of grind, forcing you to play through missions you'd rather skip, not adding anything new for content, and forcing everyone (including "Gold subscribers") to the cash shop.

Looking at the info they've given, I estimate it will cost $30-$50 a month to achieve the same level of play as prior to the impending switch, on top of subscription fees. They are also gutting some of the best features of the game.

My only hope is that they begged Dan to come back and help them salvage the train wreck that it has become.

When I was in high school, roughly fifteen years ago, there was a young man in my 10th grade English class who during a 'movie period' reached forward and "snapped" the bra of one of the young ladies in the class. She freaked out and eventually this one action led to this young man being put on the sex offender registry for life.

You can also end up on there for a variety of other reasons that are essentially harmless.

You can also end up on there because you rape children, which seems to be the automatic assumption about anybody who ends up on the list.

Point being, assumptions are worthless. Nobody in that guild has any idea what that guy actually did, and I'm guessing nobody bothered to ask him.

I've played off and on since beta. Some of the things are a little tried and true, and there's enough variation to make it a good "change of pace" game.

What an awful steaming pile of crap. Firstly, nobody in my fleet has purchased PLEX and sold for in game ISK as a way to shortcut getting ships/gear. Your assertion that anyone who was mad had "already" purchased their way to a character or a ship or anything was simply off base. But, since you are the kind of person who thinks nothing of dropping $50 for a ship in a game where you lose your ship frequently if you do anything remotely interesting ... I guess you cannot envision anything else eh?

I also thought your potshot at people's religious activities to be a pretty clear indicator of what you are. A worthless troll. One wonders how you remain employed. Oh... yeah... it's Massively.
