EVE Evolved: Development on EVE in 2012

Jan 9th 2012 1:41AM (Massively)
Have CCP/CSM ever considered changing the way skills are trained, perhaps by allowing some of them to be learned faster when you make use of them in game? It's an honest question; I've been playing EVE for a few years and that's the only feature I really miss in the game (I like the way I can level up skills when I am logged out, but I dislike the way I sometimes log into EVE for 30 minutes and find myself with nothing worth doing).

PAX 2011: Hands-on with Firefall

Aug 31st 2011 5:03PM (Massively)
Thanks very much for the review.

"Quests/missions seem to be more of the same -- run here, kill this, deliver this, etc.; it's not necessarily a con, but seeing something new would be nice."

That's actually my biggest worry. OK, Firefall is a shooter with an open world... but EVEN if we are not talking about an MMO I would expect that open world to have MANY things to do... at least I want to expend a few years of my life playing this game (and that's what Red5 wants this game to be, they want to grow and expand Firefall to allow us to continue playing for many years). With that in mind, there has to be something else; it might not be an MMO but we need something to do in the open world... it cannot be the whole day about instanced PVP or going out with the thumper...

Anyway, there's at interesting thread going on right now in the FF forums about that: http://www.firefallthegame.com/community/threads/repetitive-missions.8258/

Thanks again!

Flameseeker Chronicles: PAX 2011 travel diary

I was not able to attend PAX but I did follow Firefall from the distance. It's funny to see that right know everyone talks about them, specially because they've never done any massive marketing campaign yet. I guess that PAX is a very special show for Red5 as they first presented Firefall there and obviously they wanted to have a very good presence this year.

I guess that from now on we'll start to hear more and more about Firefall everyday. The will go from advertising in the bathrooms to very big players number once the game is released. Everyone starts from the bottom, I guess.

Firefall preview: Something for everyone

Aug 29th 2011 9:51AM (Joystiq)
The world "boss" sounds great, but I would like to see that in Firefall also in dungeons or instances, not only in the open world. The game is going to expand a lot in the future, so it's probably to early to say what's going to happen (and also, they keep secrets very well at Red5). I know it's not an MMO, but they do have elements from MMOs.

Very nice preview, thanks! By the way, beta is just a few days ago and all you have to do is signup at www.firefallthegame.com to be selected to test the game in the future!

The Daily Grind: What was your favorite PAX reveal?

Aug 29th 2011 9:47AM (Massively)
I agree that we have not gotten as much information live from PAX as we did during Gamescon. I guess that we'll see much more during the week, but I thought that PAX was going to be everywhere on the net with live shows, interview, videos and so on... and it was not.

At least we heard a lot about Firefall, which is great. The open world PVE, the ideas they have for the future, a fifth battleframe still to come... and the idea that they want us playing this game for many years (so, the game is going to expand a lot in the future). That's the best reveal from PAX for me, as I thought that Firefall was going to be a more common shooter... and it's much more than that.

Is a PVE/PVP open world in a shooter like Firefall not great?

Massively's guide to PAX 2011

In my opinion Firefall is the big star of the show. One of the biggest booths and probably the best located one. I've been trying to gather news from Firefall every day since Friday, but there is just not enough... I hope Massively is preparing us a big preview of the game for next week, just before they launch the beta!
