The Daily Grind: What originally got you into MMOs?

Mar 31st 2012 9:18AM (Massively)
I remember getting started with gaming with the old single person favorites like Baulder's Gate etc. Moving on to Alpha and Beta URU online (who remembers this one?) and then my first real MMO was SWG. Man do i miss that one. Shame it had to die for SWTOR.

Thanks, I'll give it a look.

Yes, I do miss it. All the other areas mentioned are "OK" but there is something to be said for having an "in-game" journal or book that can be kept in a library or shared with others.

It can take immersiveness to another level. Imagine (if you will) an in-game library or book store.....

nuff said.

The Daily Grind: What dead game would you play in a second if it revived?

Feb 12th 2012 11:13AM (Massively)
Well, I would have to choose 2.
First would be Star Wars Galaxies, would prefer Pre-CU (more variety) but with an updated UI.
Second would be Tabula Rasa. I was in TR from beta. I think had it been given more time and fixes it would have been a good game

The Daily Grind: Would you pay for an MMO's mobile app?

Jan 17th 2012 12:46AM (Massively)
@SwarlesBarkley

Oh I should have clarified that. If it is an individual developer I would not hesitate to pay for the app, if I found it useful. I was speaking more of the app accessing the game info. I feel that if we have a paid sub the use of the app should be free. And the reverse for FTP. But of course the companies will think differently.

Thanks for the nudge for clarity! :)

Personally, I wouldn't mind an initial buy-in price forthe app (as long as it's reasonable). But I feel that if you already have a subscription (SWTOR, WOW, LOTRO, Eve, etc) then full access for the app should be free or included. If the game is FTP or such, then I can see them charging forthe "Added" access. But it all boils down to how "greedy" the companies are and will the people buy it.

The Daily Grind: How much searching do you want in your game?

Jan 15th 2012 9:02AM (Massively)
Well, adding my thoughts on this; I too am one of the people that enoys having Quest Markers put me in the Specific area (not necessarily right to it). But I like being able to explore an area and find secrets (eggs, etc) that aren't and don't appear on the maps.

Basically. I like a balance of the two.

I too will miss SWG. Every game I have played since has been "compared" to the feeling and openness of SWG. I agree it is a sad passing. and we are less for it.

the chance to "really" feel the tenseness of the tank battles. Without the risk of course.

I'd like to be running a Zabrak Jedi Consular. Time will tell.
