Hyperspace Beacon: Breaking the bank

@Shirvington

And your past 11 posts are all defending this game. Go out and get some fresh air, or better yet, just go play this game you so blindly love and leave threads where, heaven forbid we have a negative opinion about something you love, for shame.

Also, you misused the word "hater". I don't "hate" SWTOR. I just want Bioware to see what isn't pleasing me and perhaps think about fixing it. If they don't, they don't and they never see my money. If they do, like Turbine did with LOTRO, which was my CONSTRUCTIVE point you overlooked, then they will see my money. Simple as that.

Going F2P isn't saying "end of game". It's saying, stop charging for crap and either earn your monthly sub or change to F2P and stop gouging your customer base. I wish WoW would go F2P, too with how slow they are with content updates. Actually, every game should go B2P the way GW2 is set up.

OR, when we say F2P, we mean a hybrid, like what Lotro offers, where you can still sub for you subsciption or die pundits or you can play for free with options to buy points or earn them.

ROFL, it has those numbers because of the IP. Star Wars pulls in people like crazy whether the product offered is good or bad. ROFL, again, apples to oranges. Amazing the sheer amount of blind loyalty to this IP these days.

Actually, I said they have no excuse for doing this. Never said anything about not being able to do it. And you call me retarded? Another personal attack because you have no ground to stand on in your argument if there even is one.

I love how you completely bypassed anything constructive and just took a personal stab at me instead. Way to argue like a pro! ;D

I love watching the rabid fanboys come out to defend this game and they rate down posts that aren't even filled with vitriol and have great points pointing out the flaws with the game. This isn't an organized "smear" campaign, it's people being honest about a game that was supposed to blow us all away. Clearly some like it, that's fine, just don't get all pissy when not everyone shares the same viewpoint and is willing to say so and why.

I was subbed long enough to hop on Test Center and test out 1.2 and to see if it would keep me subbed. It didn't. I logged in sheer boredom after about 4 hours of playing with the new stuff. Game is still boring once you've taken a character to 50. Combat and Enemy AI and a plethora of other things need to be changed/added before this game becomes a "hit".

They should take a page out of Turbine's playbook in this case as I hated LOTRO in the first few years for the same reasons. Then they went and changed combat mechanic for Moria and released tons of content and new game mechanics and other changes and it was like a brand new game, one that I bought a lifetime sub for and now happily play every month.

@Amlin

That sounds like you are saying it's OK to just "settle" for a game for a few months. I would rather they know what they are getting into and then decide to buy the game or not. I enjoyed my first 50...to a degree, it could have been much better, but I don't think it was worth the 2 months of sub I needed past the first month to finish. It's just not.

@Mighty Lawn Gnome

It's not about the trial itself. It's about how many times in the past few weeks it keeps changing and entering our news sources. Most games say one time, "here, free trial for 14 days" or whatever and you never hear about the trial again.

With SWTOR, I've heard try this for this, oh wait, here's a better deal, now try this, oh wait, now you can invite even MORE to the party, try this and so on. That smells like desperation to me. Grasping at anything to get people to play. Aren't there commercials and paid magazine/internet ads enough?

Rift is a small company and doesn't have the corporate backing or cashflow SWTOR does. Apples and Oranges here.

@Irem

Rift didn't spend the money on their game that Bioware did though. For Rift to do it, it doesn't smack of desperation it smacks of a smart business move by a very small company surrounded by very large ones with lots of money. SWTOR doesn't have this excuse to fall back on at all.
