RIFT 'Spoils of War' mini-event kicks off today

@Puremallace I'm not sure exactly what you ARE looking for, but I feel you likely won't find it in MMOs at this point. Not WoW, not Rift, and not anything on the horizon like GW2 or SWTOR. Even though SWTOR has an emphasis on storytelling and such, it is still going to boil down to the same elements that all MMOs are shooting for at this point: serialized shiny fluff content for casual players, deathmatch/battleground style PVP (PVP-lite I suppose?), gear ladder via dungeons and token systems, and endgame raid instances.

@toychristopher I think it is assuming you are max level. While leveling up, of course, you will hit points where you can't spend more in a tree until you increase your level.

RIFT's first closed beta produces "a hell of a sight"

@JayFiveAlive IMO it shows that they are moving forward, listening and improving the game. Why would you be less pumped? Expect it all to be 100% perfect day 1 of closed beta 1? ;)

The Daily Grind: What cool feature was still a disappointment?

Sep 13th 2010 10:23AM (Massively)
Wow where do I begin...

WotLK expansion: Cookie cutter much?

WAR: My friend's and I got SO hyped... it was going to be like DAOC 2.0!! Keep sieges, open world RVR, realm skill system. Boy were we wrong... So dull.

Global Agenda: Fun but basically boiled down to Counter-Strike with lasers. I love Counter-Strike and all, but I already played that for a bout a decade. They are FINALLY bringing some "open world" type stuff, but its a little bit late. At least it's free now more or less ;)

APB: Lots of disappointment here. I enjoyed the game overall, but it had NO staying power and no content progression to keep people playing. I'd say the biggest letdown is how badly balanced the weapons were for so long. They basically made a shooter rpg hybrid, but got both the shooter and rpg parts very wrong.

Final Fantasy XIV: Controls are just bastardized for PC users. Enough said.

I saw this on Penny Arcade and thought it was a joke... zomg.

Rumor: Realtime Worlds lays off staff, puts APB up for sale [Updated]

This is pretty depressing. I picked it up last month because some friends were giving it a go. We had/have a ton of fun, and the game feels pretty stable and all... but we can also see they need to push out new features and content for it to sustain for much longer. There isn't a whole lot to do at this juncture, but we had our fingers crossed that they might implement larger battleground/instanced style fights (maybe 20 on 20 for an objective, etc), among other features.

I figured the game would go for 6 months till the numbers were this low... but nope... there are very few playing now, even on weekends :(

Anarchy Online beats the heat with nano spreadsheets

I would love for there to be an AO2. As cool as AoC was, I would have taken AO2 instead in a heartbeat. That game had such fun style and such... I mean, BrontoBurger? cmon!!!
