Personally I'd look at your graphics card. I'm no expert but I'd suggest it maybe a little behind the curve. I think Nvidia are due to start releasing their next generation of cards sometime in the next few months. Probably worth keeping your eyes open for bargains when that happens.
Completely agree. Why does sandbox automatically mean world PvP?
Sorry rant incoming.
Every few weeks we get an announcement about another new Sandbox PvP game from an indie developer. I understand many people love themselves a bit of PvP, but a vast majority prefer there PvP in small doses or not at all. I'm not saying PvP has no place in sandbox games, but focusing solely on world PvP as your main content is, in my opinion, a mistake.
"The Gipat patch came in much later, from the beginning Allods was shoved away for miscellaneous reasons..."
Not true. Allods got rave reviews from commenters here. I and many people were extremely impressed by its quality. I remember almost no negative comments about the game until the cash shop was introduced.
I don't know the ins and outs of what patch added what, but as I understand it you need a scroll to progress at a 'normal' XP rate. As it stands you can currently get one free scroll with a daily quest, but gPotato hasn't decided if they will keep that in game when the game officially launches in Europe. Obviously if I'm wrong about this I'd love to be corrected.
I don't play the game at the moment and I'll be honest I don't trust gPotato enough to go back. I get the impression at any given moment they will make a change in the game which will require me to spend money in the cash shop just to be able to play. I don't mind paying for fun items or things like character slots, transfers and name changes, but I refuse to buy items just to be able to progress in a timely fashion. Having to buy consumable items just to play normally is, in my opinion, extremely negative game design and not something I'm willing to tolerate.
All of this negativity is a shame because Allods looks fantastic, is fairly enjoyable and has some great features, its just been tarnished by some fairly silly business decisions.
Just wanted to clear something up in your description Tribis.
Allods had an extremely positive launch in closed and early open Beta. It was only when they started the unbelievable cash shop gouging that the negativity started. The numerous terrible design choices that stemmed from that created the negativity, which still persists today.
