City of Heroes offering a sneak peek of Issue 20 content

Feb 16th 2011 12:00AM (Massively)
I really enjoy the STF and I don't think THAT many people dislike it. I agree the ITF is the standard for the reasons you listed as well as: somewhat unique maps, mostly unique enemies, decent design and a good amount of fun. The ITF isn't a bunch of old maps slapped together with the same old enemies etc. It is a different experience. One day the idiot devs of this game will realize that.

I thought the weekly target stuff might get me back but I am staying away. maybe this raid mechanic will entice me. I hope it is more interesting and fun than a Hami raid or Cathedral of Pain.

This new stuff sounds pretty cool but whenever CoH has told us something "BIG" is coming "SOON"...well...we've kinda been disappointed. This is, of course, my opinion.

Mission Architect is an awesome thing but it was all they really focused on for like a year. Then the follow up, maintaining etc. That system was way too much for the resulting product.

The next big deal was Going Rogue. A good product but it just gave us slight variations on what we have. Nothing big or new but the same.

The stuff they pump out is repetitive and the last good issue was i12. It has been a while since they have provided something fun to do that you like to do over and over. The ITF is a lot of fun and they haven't done anything to match it since.

I left the game when i19 hit and I don't think I will be back until at least I see what the heck they are talking about here.

If you're new to the game then the amount of stuff will be overwhelming in this game. Lots to do, ok graphics and great character creator. I just hope the devs get their collective heads out of their back ends and listen to the players.

Week in Review: Freemium spandex

CHAMPIONS is quite a poor game. It is awful in so many ways. It isn't even worth F2P as they have taken AWAY some of the original costume items they gave you when you initially bought the game. Just awful.

I was a long time player of City of Heroes. If you haven't played it before and want supers then CoH is the way to go. It has a ton of stuff in it. I left, mostly, due to the repetition but it took me a few years of seeing how the devs were not concerned about that before I left. They seem to have lost touch with the players and it's too bad. I'd play that game forever if it wasn't so repetitive. I'd head back there in a second if they started adding original content.

Yeah, I am off this game and may come back for i20. After playing for a while it's just the same old crap over and over. It can be a fun game but the devs kinda just do the same old. Ah well. Enjoy your 2XP.

Yeah ok. Finally loaded and it seems many of the costume options I HAD are now going to cost atari points although I have a bought version of the game. Wow. That did it. Uninstalled and Eff You, Craptic.

yeah i am giving this a look. i bought it when it launched and felt very ripped off. i am sure not much has changed. unfortunately, i can't even patch as it has stalled and the servers have crashed. the game and company are just pathetic. sad.

i thought this might be a nice fix until i decide on dcuo. city of heroes is just dull so yeah...maybe no mmos for a while :)

I am not just commenting about this release. It has been the last several. I quit the game in Dec and not sure I am coming back. They put out the same old crap over and over in a SLIGHTLY different wrapper. Yup, different wrapper but the contents are the same.

Yeah my comp is fine with CoH so really...

Anyway, it looks like CoH isn't adding much at all that is new. Just tempting people with bonuses and higher rewards. These devs are so out of touch. Honestly, the content gets old and fast when you've been around the game for a while. It's too bad the devs don't see this.

I think Champions is a horrid game but to each their own.

CoH really should have many more unique experiences than it has. Unfortunately they went with the quick, cheap and easy fix; add more of the same stuff and call it a new arc or TF.

Most of the old TFs are just like doing regular missions. They are just strung together and offer a reward. The old TFs/SFs are just boring as all hell to play but people tend to do it anyway for rewards etc. Actually, most of the TFs do not offer unique game play - it speeds up the burn out.

I was told DCUO offered unique maps and monthly updates? Is this true? I am thinking that might be enough for me to finally leave CoH for good. I will only pay for 1 MMO at a time.
