When I heard ME3 was going to be origin exclusive, I considered for a short time just pirating the game, besides the fact that I bought the last two. Unfortunately, I want to play the game the minute it comes out, and I can't be assured of this if I pirate it. If it were ANY other game, they would not be getting my $60. I will uninstall origin when I finish playing.
If NCsoft cancelled Lineage III, then they had no plans to actually do anything with the art and game assets. It may have been legally underhanded, but that content would have never seen the dawn of day had it not been for Bluehole and En Masse. I don't really see it as stealing if the stuff they took wasn't ever going to be sold or make NCsoft profit in any way.
Gaming comes only after basic sustenance/needs and sex. Friends are important, but mostly come and go as they please. Work only appeals when: a) its making me easy money to support my habits b) its particularly intellectually engaging So if asked what I'd prefer to be doing pretty much at any time, its gaming.
I'll certainly be giving them the 14.99 for another month. I haven't really heard any mass grumbling among the players about wanting to unsubscribe. I think their retention will be decent, if not at the levels they predicted.
I play massively multiplayer games to be immersed in their environments, which is basically how I approach most kinds of the fiction I enjoy. Its not that I don't engage the game on a statistical level, because I won't deny that I've grown a fondness for that as I've aged; But what keeps me coming back is a given online worlds ability to take me to a fantastic place, surrounded by unpredictable elements.
I mean, I have no complaints. I'm enjoying leveling my various characters and enjoying their stories. Flashpoints are quite fun. It'll take several months at the pace I'm leveling to get through the class stories I really want to play. I imagine by that time the game will be cleaned up significantly. They also say bug fixes will be patched in weekly, which is nice.
@(Unverified) No, they aren't. When you make as many kickass, and wildly successful, games as they have, you can have a big ego too. They earned it, straight up. They have yet to fumble. Not every single one of their games have sold like wildfire, but none have ever flopped.
