Sony's website design and maintenance is terrible. Could you try to link directly to news articles? None of the three games have anything about Valentine's Day in the news entries.
If you're playing because you like the grind: You don't gain platinum at a faster rate, you're still grinding. You don't gain Faction at a faster rate, you're still grinding. You don't gain Status Points at a faster rate, you're still grinding. You don't complete dailies or bounties faster, you're still grinding.
Even if you outlevel a quest chain that you've never done before, there's nothing stopping you from finishing it when it's grey (and chances are, by your 10th character, you're so twinked out that you started it when it was freshly out of red anyways).
@MtthwRddl Storm cloud, lightning wolf, white rhino, flying carpet, all sorts of crap. Sometimes I think the art department puts more effort into cash-shop sparkleponies than they did into the player-character races.
