Massively Exclusive: Star Trek Online announces EU relaunch, double XP weekend

Mar 29th 2012 10:12AM (Massively)
@Vic Fontaine I thought they had it right with just VO at the start and end of the featured episodes. Their cutscenes in general and those including a lot of VO just look cheap and don't work for me.

Anything that increases STOs surprisingly low EU population has to be a good thing after years of mistakes which started before the original launch with the EU publisher shambles.

EVE Online's The Mittani issues formal apology for crossing the line [UPDATED]

Mar 27th 2012 6:58AM (Massively)
If he had meant a single word of that fake "full and sincere apology" he would have resigned his position immediately. Instead he issues this nonsense in the hope he gets away with it. With cyber bullying becoming a criminal offense in more and more countries unless CCP bans him this idiot could help bring down EVE itself.

Blizzard acknowledges TOR's impact on WoW

@(Unverified) It seems some MMO companies just don't care about optimization anymore and when you consider this was one of the main reasons for WoWs success it's all the more baffling.

Captain's Log: Focus on the Foundry

Mar 20th 2012 7:11AM (Massively)
Many of my favorite missions in STO are player made. The fact that authors are wrestling with a system which amounts to an early beta foundry for Neverwinter Nights bolted onto STO makes their achievements all the more remarkable. Cryptic's long promised foundry update is one of those things that always seems to be two seasons away no matter how many seasons actually pass by.

Captain's Log: Operation Gamma

The Vorta cutscene was very dark but the shuttle scene was fine for me, though on the second play through one of the crew was standing on her chair rather than sitting.

I now understand the Darkside Points placeholder joke from last week when this episode was accidently released a week early and unfinished, poor Farek.

All in all probably the best episode in this series so far.

Leaderboard: Lockboxes yea vs. lockboxes nay

I dispise them and hope they fall foul of gambling regulations before all developers treat their customers with contempt by introducing them.

I've given up all interest in this game since their region locking nonsense!

Yes, free will is great, however that doesn't make this practice any less disgusting.

CNN observes the migration habits of the elusive wild gamer

I disagree, single player game people who have never played a MMO before should have been exactly the people SWTOR aimed for to increase the pool of MMO players and side step the migration pattern. Instead BioWares lack of advertising to draw them in is baffling. It will be interesting to see the amount of advertising for ME3 in comparsion. It was the constant TV ads for ME2 that got me to play my first single player game in many years.

The Daily Grind: Do you skip dialogue?

Jan 30th 2012 8:52AM (Massively)
Once the novelty wore off I skip dialogue in exactly the same way I skip mission text, I've no idea why the developers expected anything less.
