Guild halls aren't just for raiders! That's one of the silliest things I've ever heard...
As to crafting, you sound exceedingly bitter. There is lots of crafting gear that sells - is it better than raid gear? No. But it sells for far more than vendor prices. Consumable profs are useful as always. Harvestables lying around is more a factor of there being so much over-supply from Ember Isle now. It isn't mentioned in this article, but 1.8 is also getting a lot of crafting work done where they are revamping some recipe requirements and leveling progression of profs.
As to Chrons, yea they're easy and terrible rewards. I'd like to see them scale in tiers or something, but they are intended to be for brand-new 50s or else for people who just want to see the place and experience smaller versions of the encounters. If you really care about loot drops all that much, why aren't you raiding?
I loved Vanguard and would love to see something happen with it and its features. I'd still play it if I could justify the sub fee for a game that gets no updates and has a tiny community, but I really can't. :-/ I was there at launch and though an MMO can maybe recover from that as someone said, the community for that MMO has a much harder time doing so. I never played SWG so it was the VG launch and aftermath and put a sour taste for SOE in my mouth.
On diplomacy specifically, I never got that deep into this feature when I did play VG. It is a kind of mini-game, but it has effects on the world too by giving buffs while in cities and whatnot. I went back to play the trial not too long ago and had a great time leveling Diplo up to 10 through that. I'm sure another game could adjust it and do it well. The only problem I had with it I guess is that it was so single-player oriented (at least in the lower levels, not sure how it was higher up). I don't play MMOs to play alone (one reason I'm rather leery of SWTOR despite my love of Bioware).
Your decisions are based on auction-house prices? Are you serious? Even though this post was a poor excuse for writing, I could have dealt with it if it had shown any ability to make good choices about one's gearing. Instead, it wasted at least five minutes of my day going on about how much mana one can get from metas, only then to admit that no one actually needs mana! Good job? I won't even mention the horrid and flawed logic re: testing. Please, God, don't let any of these poor readers follow your example.
well i didn't preorder after beta because of the grind - so i at least agree with him on that point. i don't really care how they fix it - i'd be fine with same xp lvls, just more quests, but until it's changed, i won't be playing.
I just have to say that you come across really harsh because someone doesn't like a game you do. Then, you proceed to say it's "incredible" that people don't have the same opinion about WoW as you have.
A little reflection might do you well before you post next time.
I think 'no soul' may be a little harsh. I agree, but I think the reason I feel that way is because of the different cultural values placed on these games and I hesitate to say the Eastern way is to have no soul. :p
It was fun for a little while in beta. I got to pick new flowers and level new tradeskills and whatever. But I never felt like I was growing as a character - I was playing an assassin/sorcerer/cleric. I was playing a game, not living a life in a different world. Obviously, I'm someone who enjoys the immersive aspect of these games and when it's not there, I'm not either. It's just a game.
