@SgtBaker1234556 Given the replies so far on this subject, you're very much in the minority. Any game that forces me into grouping (or any other play style) to do *anything* to progress would never get my money.
I ditched SWTOR because I couldn't complete a key class quest on my own. I tried and died so many times it was beyond a joke. I like grouping up when I'm in the mood and, more importantly, have the time to do it without having to bail halfway through and let down everyone else. But I want to be able to do this when *I* choose, and certainly not to progress a storyline quest.
Tabula Rasa without a doubt. Yes, it was a mess when it launched but by the time they pulled the plug it was shaping up very nicely. I had a huge amount of fun defending based from swarms of bag guys. I'm certain that half the decision to pull the plug was as a purely personal 'fuck you' message to Richard Garriott from NC Soft.
"Even so, the studio predicts that queues on popular servers will be present and urges players to consider rolling characters on lesser-populated realms."
Seriously?
Kinda makes the whole early access period pointless...
I cancelled my SWTOR pre-order a while back, partly because I realised £130 for the collector's edition was just plain ridiculous and also because I was getting MMO burnout.
I got into the final testing and have been giving it a go this weekend. My first reaction was a bit 'meh' - very slick and polished but absolutely not pushing the genre forward at all. But for some reason I kept playing and I'm liking it more and more. The gameplay, while nothing new, is fun and the quality storytelling and full voice overs really do make a difference. It's now back on my 'to buy' list again.
I've been playing Eve on and off since it launched. Unlike many others, I was looking forward to Incarna, but the whole fiasco surrounding the item store and now this - something's not right with the direction both Eve and CCP are taking - it's just the latest in a long line of increasingly dubious decisions.
@krakead Just had the following email back from Game: We can confirm that we will be offering a pre-order bonus code for “Star Wars - The Old Republic”.
Any customers who have already preordered any edition online prior by Wednesday 27th July will be receiving their code Thursday 28th July. After the 28th July, any new preorders will be received on the Thursday after you have placed your order.
@Alamar01 This sort of plea comes up every time an MMO goes to the wall. While it would be great if it happened, it never will. Very few companies will willingly hand over code that required millions of dollars of investment to produce. Also, there will probably be large chunks of tech that will be licensed from other companies that they cannot just give away either. In the case of SWG, there's no way that Lucas Arts, as owners of the game's IP, would allow this to happen, especially when they have a competing/replacement game nearly ready to launch.
